I like cardamom in rice pud but OH doesn't like rice pud so haven't done it for years. Cinnamon is such a lovely spice too.
Have unpacked more cartons and am now taking a coffee break. Just a few more to free up the space for OH's wine rack and then I can start on my clothes boxes. OH has been busy busy building a bed frame and is now vaccing upstairs so I'm not about to interrupt him.
DD - rest sounds good to me if that's what you fancy. Have to indulge yourself sometimes.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hello folks - we're back We've had a simply lovely day - the gardens were marvellous - soooooo much better than when we went in the spring - and there was only one shower of rain and as luck would have it were were down by the thatched summerhouse in Foggy Bottom, so we sat there and looked at the beautiful vista while listening to the raindrops plip plopping in the pond.
The Under Gardener really liked the gardens as well as the steam engines etc, and a good lunch of home made pasties and chips with good coffee, and later on some ice creams, went down very well indeed
I took hundreds of photos - I'll post some later - supper's nearly ready ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Couldn't wait, so got changed when I came back from work and set to with the jack and timber and The Rock 2.
I've managed to lift the front end about a foot into the air with timbers underneath. Tomorrow I'm going to bring some half railway sleepers and get those underneath and hopefully think about actually moving it. I'm hoping , once it's clear of the soil it might be more amenable to moving???
Boss did mention some overtime shifts for Thursday. Really don't want to waste this lovely dry sunny weather so I might lie low for a while.
Evening all. Home from the hill - well, three quarters of the hill - don't ask...
Got some lovely photos (hopefully!) so not a completely wasted day. Knee was playing up a bit so I made a decision to turn back before the summit. It'll still be there for another day. Such is life
I see you've all been busy with hedgehogs, absent or otherwise, Hosta's rock jack, visits to gardens, walks, just chillin', or 'fairground attractions'...
Looking froward to Dove's pix too.
I've had a shower, a cuppa, and now I'm waiting for dinner, which older fairylet has made.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Me too BL but I'm watching the final of the ATP China Open Tennis.

Glad you enjoyed your day Dove. Look forward to the pictures. I haven't seen Bressingham this late in the year.
I've cut down some finished perennials, lots more to do.
Doing sea bass with homegrown veg from the freezer, incl. broad beans, love them.

Just not lying low under the rock Hosta
Too bad about your knee playing up Fairy but you took the sensible decision.
Andy won the Chinese Open so that will cheer you up.
