Just had an email, my "new" van is being delivered tomorrow.
It's a red Fiesta van, 07 plate with only 37,000 miles on the clock. It's owned by a friend / colleague who has a car restoration company and they've owned it for about 2 years, but hardly ever use it They've had it through their body shop for cosmetic stuff and it's having a nice new MOT this afternoon.
Saves me walking home from work at 8pm tomorrow night and OH can now stop phoning me in a panic about the tax running out today on my "old" van.
Dove: I've never managed delicate pastry. Especially now its got to be gluten free. I manage to make.... well breeze blocks would be a best description.
Child has gone back home, tired, crying, and happy. The woman kept telling me to "thank my boss" for letting me do this. Yeah... because he even knew it was happening! He had no interest in the idea what so ever and certainly didn't help with the scrubbing!
At least I can be confident when 90 snotty children arrive tomorrow... the museum was clean for a short while!
Home time soon. I want to wax the rest of the doors while there is still day light: I can't see a damn thing with the pitiful bulb that counts as electricity in the lounge.
Buy a stronger bulb? Well done for looking after that child so well.
Hosta - enjoy your new toy.
I have just planted 25 Ruby Giant crocus in the grass while OH isn't looking. I have 25 white ones too but can't decide whether to scatter them in another clump in the grass or keep them in pots for my future white border. What do you reckon?
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
In the grass Obelixx - you can get some more for the white border.
Well, OH has cut the grass front and back it was still a bit damp but we raked it first and scattered the worm casts - the front lawn is so much better since the sessions with the electric rake and scarifier, a bit of top dressing and some grass seed. A sprinking of 3 in 1 in the spring and it'll be fantastic.
I've planted the wallflowers, I had to cut back some dead perennial stems so that I could get at the front border - I would normally have reduced the height of the buddleja but it's still covered with flowers and bees, and there was a really big Red Admiral enjoying it earlier, then it flew up to the front bedroom windowsill and basked in the sunshine. It was 17.2C out there - virtually sweltering!
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Evening all, You have been a chatty lot. I'm not sure why I haven't been around for the last few days, seem to have been occupied with one thing and another. Done quite a bit of gardening and have visited First and Secondborn a couple of times. Have also been doing quite a few jigsaw puzzles, so I suppose I could blame Pat
Welcome to newbies, sorry but I can't remember what has been going on. I did read back quickly but apart from Pat's s***e, which traumatised me and the odd mention of the C word it's all blending into one. It must be my age.
Talking about the C word I actually went to Merry Hell today and bought all my C cards and wrap and bought/ordered the grandchildren's C presents. From tomorrow we are all allowed to say the word but can't bring myself to use it until then.
Have been hiding behind closed curtains as I forgot to buy any Halloween sweets and there have been quite a few witches and ghosties walking the streets.
Nanna duty tomorrow afternoon and wednesday morning so will 'see' you all on Thursday.
Its been a usual kind of first day in a job....induction training, generalised videos broadly sweeping irrelevant topics in order to tick boxes....I'm assured tomorrow will be different! they are still having trouble getting my uniform so have given up totally and given me a large sized mans t shirt that I wear as an enormous baggy dress over my jeans they have asked me for any identifying marks that will distinguish me from my colleagues in case of emergency... I said boobs female gardeners appear to be unheard of around here!
Dove you would be proud, after seeing your pasties, I turned the stew into pie and made dumplings and mash with the other half! Bet those pasties tasted good tho!
Sounds like everyone has had a lovely day in the garden....if anyone wants to tidy mine they are welcome...only post on GOS now
Clari, I'm glad your VIP enjoyed his visit but think you should have taken the credit!
Enjoy the van Hosta!
Now to get on...pointed cabbage to steam spuds to mash, cats to feed and run down hubby to fuss over....
Woooeeeh! ! They've gone. 8 am and they're on their way. I'm back under the covers, in my maroon dressing gown and feeling rather relaxed. We won't hear from them now for a couple of weeks. Won't hear if they got to their destination safely etc, etc.
