His lordship is having a break from DIY to go mess around with Land Rover with his friend so puppy and I are home alone for a few hours. Hopefully I'll get all the doors waxed in that time! Brilliant wax but gosh does it smell strong.
I AM COOKING the duck tonight. With roast potatoes and honey glazed roast parsnip. I can't decide however whether a raspberry compote will help or hinder (no plums to make a plum type sauce). Dilemmas!
Roll on retirement, Hosta! Or the holidays, at least. I loved my job, but working Sundays was pants... a different class of customer from the laid-back folk during the week.
Dove, please don't change. I know when I read your posts that I'm going to feel better as a result.
I'm hoping tomorrow will be the day Marshalls deliver my new strawberry runners. The beds are ready and waiting, and I caught OH looking at the descriptions in the catalogues the other day. Strawberries are his favourite fruit. I love them too, but maybe raspberries come top of my list... or perhaps blueberries... or really good cherries... or Victoria plums warmed by the sun...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Been grey and misty all day. We went to a GC this morning, I bought 20 violas for the bank and some Christmas cards. Then we went to an antiques fair this afternoon. There was some good stuff, bit pricey, but all I bought was coffee and cake.
Love lambshanks Lesley. I am being lazy and we are having Sainsbury's ready meals, pulled pork for me and Chinese for OH.
Watching Strictly (yesterday's) tonight.
Off to Yorkshire tomorrow.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Evening all. Been busy grafting outside - very productive as I managed to move a hydrangea into a new position. Not sure it'll survive, but that's life!
Sorry you had the sh***y Sunday customers Hosta. Daughter does an early shift at Asda on Sunday - the click and collect thing - so she doesn't have to deal with the 'plebs' like she does on Saturday. Bearing in mind that the store is in a very affluent area, it's quite incredible how rude some folk are. All the card machines went into meltdown throughout the whole country and some people showed their true colours. What the **** is wrong with people nowadays?
Not sure what we'll have for dinner as daughter is now doing her cake. May have to go to the Chinese takeaway.....
I'll just have toast...or more of that tart.....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Its been a lovely mild day here today. Actually wore purple dressing gown until 2.30pm when had to go to a shop. came home past drive thru and had a cheeseburger dirty disgusting food but after a heavy night, essential!
I could certainly manage a slice of fruit cake now tho Dove, but make sure I still have room for Clari's duck!
Have to confess to slobbing in bed all afternoon with the cat shouting at us that we should be doing something to entertain her....trying to ignore...if only there were a button

I know I'm a coffee drinker, but very very occasionally I need a cup of tea - anyone for a cup of Earl Grey and a slice of fruitcake folks?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Yes please Dove! One more door to wax. Rather struggling with the light now.
Lesley....just as well daughter left early as there were long delays on the M6.
Clari. . . opened daughter's birthday present for OH.....just what you need until house is finished.....a heated throw
home and a cuppa now.
What a day it was. According to everyone I spoke to it was horrid. Nasy , miserable , mannerless customers. Not what we're used to at all.
Sun going down so no point in changing and trying to get any gardening done, so tea and walnut cake it has to be.
Fingers crossed for a good Poldark this evening and a good night sleep.
