I still have loads of bulbs to plant. New daffs have gone in pots. Free mixed daffs and tulips go in the ground. Old bulbs out of last years pots go in any space going.  Only there is no space until I clear out dahlias and other summer tender items. I need to get salvia cuttings done sharpish.  I'm not doing lasagne pots again. I didn't get the timing of bulbs right. I had early tulips before late daffs and it just looked a mess.  I have a neighbour across the road who spends all winter in warmer climes. I may just do a bit of guerilla planting in the grass along his front. Most of us now have assorted daffs by the front wall. It brightens the area up come Spring time, but I only use cheap mixed daffs because some seem to go missing when the schoolkids go byimage  I hope their mums enjoy them. For the same reason, all my choice plants are in the back garden.

How much notice have you to give for your old work, Wonky?

    See original post

Think she had to give a months notice. She hasn't got any leave to take so she'll have to work all of it.

The Under Gardener has sent me back indoors - despite sunshine I felt shivery outside and he has prescribed another day on the sofa and more aspirin, honey and hot lemon - he says he's an experienced enough Under Gardener not to need supervising when turning the compost - apparently I point out the obvious image

He's right, he's pulled up the squashes and raked over the bed ready to sow with broad beans without any instruction at all image

He says he needs me to be well enough to make tonight's supper - that's my only job today.  Kettle is on and feet are up.

It's just that I'm getting frustrated - I want to move some plants around ...........
