Bake Off was really good - the other two seemed genuinely delighted at the result which I thought was nice. After that meringue, I thought she would be pretty hard to beat. Really lovely programme.
I think the winter 'blues' affects many people - when it becomes more than that, it's a different thing entirely. doc - hope you find the box helps, especially after your recent trip. Hosta - we'll keep you entertained, so don't go away too often...
I suppose I should organise myself fro the salt mine. It doesn't seem to be getting any quieter there really. I still have a week's holiday to take though, so I might try for next week or the week after, before the sky turns the tap on permanently for winter.
Have a good day everyone, whatever you get up to
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thanks folks, on phone and never posted from it before so we well see how successful it is, day in car having a coffee before I go in, don't really mind being late today! Joyce thermals are a must!!!!!! Keep warm and safe everyone! ?
Haven't been on this thread for a couple of days, didn't feel very chatty after the family dispute. But today we are off to our cottage in Norfolk. Tomorrow I will be shopping for winter clothes in M&S in Norwich! They fit so much better than French clothes which are made for women with fine bones and skinny arms.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Well fudge. I sent the boss many many emails yesterday as he was floating around the building and rather hard to pin down to talk too.
He hasn't read any of them (I get read receipts). Which means today (he's now out of the office) I can't spend the day revising as required but can instead... sit in my unheated "cupboard" (its meant to be an office but offices tend to have more facilities than this) and... well I'm not sure what I should be doing. Or what I even CAN do.
Watch You Tube videos on how to plaster would be a start looking at these walls.
PDoc - WI can be very interesting women. Be prepared for an attentive audience and probing questions.
Hosta - I have a SAD friend who couldn't cope at all without her special lights. Hope they work for you.
Lots of excitement this morning. Dogs, especially Rasta, fascinated by noises in the dining room fireplace so I removed the dogs out the front and opened the grate and…….nothing. Let the dogs back in through the kitchen this time and bingo – bird flapping in the dining room which adjoins the kitchen with an arch. Sensibly it found the open back door but Rasta didn’t see it leave and is now doing her impression of a chimney sweep convinced there is something in there. She’ll probably sit and watch it all day.
Locksmith later and then I need to do which I hope will be without yesterday’s bovine excitement. I shall go the other way.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I s'pose I'd better get up ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Being further north and west, it takes longer for daylight to appear
I don't mind the dark evenings as much.
WW...good wishes for the new job
You will need the thermals on during the winter!

BL...I have donned the winter woolies and warmer trousers this week.
Another garden for you to tidy up before the winter. Enjoy your time at the cottage

Lizzie ((hugs)). Enjoy your visit and the shopping. A little distance may help put things in perspective.
Clari - DO NOT start knocking the plaster off the walls of the museum
.
Busy - hope your trip away helps settle you.
