Busy day today, Harvest Festival, gave groceries to a charity. Then 25 came to our house for a Bring and Share lunch. Had to use 2 rooms and garden tables, but it went really well. Everyone cheerful and super food. Taken a bit of time to clear up.
Looking forward to Strictly and Poldark.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good day here too - small plat fair with both amateurs and nurseries selling plants. I picked up an un-named red camellia for 6€ and a selection of home propagated salvias for 2€ each and one or two other bits and pieces.
We came home via the Vendée Globe village os OH could pick up his own info pack to follow the race - I suspect he really wanted the basebal cap for golf! - and we were so hungry we had moules frites at a stand. 2nd time I've eaten those in a week. In Belgium it was once a year cos they tend to be the big flabby Zeeland variety but these are small and very tasty moules de buchot.
Bought him his fleece too at 70% off and a waterproof each for walking the dogs. Now I'm trying to roast chicken and sweet potatoes. I can see why the oven seemed pristine! It's 90cm wide and gas powered from a bottle. Ours died 10 minutes in so needed changing and now the oven won't re-light so I'm doing stuff in the combi microwave. Flipping Nora!
Lady neighbour popped by yesterday with a large bag of quinces so I need to look up some recipes. Any recommendations?
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Obelixx, re quinces. If you cook up the peelings and cores separately, they help with the colour and setting. (Strained of course) , for making jams etc.
Punkdoc, so sorry to hear about the ambulance drivers. All you can hope for is that it might have been quick and that they didn't suffer! Like you, I can't see where it will all end. Very sad.
Loved Henry hiding under the stairs too - its like he was saying "who, me ??" Hope the constructive phase can now begin.
Having the very last of our autumn raspberries on my porridge this morning - they have been amazing this year. Lots of tomatoes still ripening too, so I am ignoring advice to rip them all out for another week or so.
Best get a wiggle on - work beckons. Littlest chicklet on half term this week, so don't have the discipline of a train timetable to keep me from faffing

How about a big Lazy Susan on it? Just swivel it round to get your five a day!...
I find it strange if the father is telling him not to go 'near the edge'. 'Don't go on it to start with you clown' - should be the message!
A nice big jaggy Berberis might do the trick.....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
.....along with a Mahonia and a Holly. . good deterrents

Just received some terrible news, 2 of the volunteer ambulance drivers, who used to bring casualties to us, were killed in an explosion on Friday.
When are we going to stop this barbarism.
When you don't even know who's in the team
