Son rang this morning to ask if he could come to lunch, & DIL and 2 little boys (1 & 2). Hurriedly got some salmon out of the freezer. Was lovely to see them.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Lantana: fortunately we have a Henry that is dedicated to the muckiest of jobs so I've vacuumed and now mopped. The Dyson is all well and good but far too delicate for proper cleaning.
Evening all, morning Pat, hope your keeping warm, we just put our winter duvet on today! we are wimps though
Clari, I agree with Lantana, must be sooo nice looking at things to make the place in your style instead of trying to visualise walls disappearing!
Yvie, well done on the continued weight loss! I'm just putting on my winter padding!
Lantana, I am gladbyour part of the ever so stylish purple dressing gown club! they can't be that bad as its what I was wearing when hubby popped the question!
We have had drizzle all day here, lit the fire, hung the washing in front of that, put back to back Poirot on and did pottering housework, actually enjoyed it! Shepard's pie in the oven, greens on the stove.
Evening all. A productive day outside and dinner on - albeit slightly late for me...
I heard about that pumpkin on the radio...must be bonkers!
Clari - I wrecked a hoover when I had building work done in a previous house. Brush and shovel was better initially
The slate is lovely - hard to beat.
Not decided where to go yet Joyce. Thinking of one of the ones in Glen Etive ( Meall nan Eun) as I didn't do it with it's neighbour when I was there in June, or heading back to Lochgoilhead to do Beinn Bheula. I came home the day I went there as I didn't feel too well. Weather looking promising for both hills
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Right. Rock No 2 might be my practice run before THE Rock. I managed to use a car jack ( as per video ) and lifted it enough to get a 3" x 8 ft fence post underneath.
I reckon if I keep moving the jack, I should be able to get enough timber underneath to use as sledge type runners and tow it into place with the van, if I can get the angle right.
Coal face tomorrow so will have to wait until next week.
Good news on weight loss yvie, I'm still on the way down. 3 stone and 10 pounds gone.

I can hear my bulbs calling me from the box in the greenhouse... I can't see them finding the ground any time soon.

Clari, there's a lot to be said for a proper mop and bucket - even if it's just for sloshing someone around the chops if the occasion demands it
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

The sun finally broke through around three o'clock and it's lovely now.
Clari - cleaning plaster dust from floorboards is one of the worst jobs I've ever done
Fairy, Have you got tomorrow's walk planned and the thermals looked out?
