Up in Cheshire it's grey and damp, it's been grey and damp all week. The sun has not been seen and  not even enough rain to do much good to the garden. I want some sun, just a glimpse of the  sun to prove it is still there somewhere.imageimage

Iamweedy image  There is a sun - I saw it earlier - but there's so much low cloud and mist it looked like the moon - otherwise just grey and damp here too.  OH was going to mow the grass, but I think that's been postponed ........

Ir*ning has been done and Cauli Cheese eaten - I foresee an afternoon with my feet up and the knitting on my lap image  Maybe a bit of book reading too ......... don't let me anywhere near a gardening catalogue folks ... and that thread about what we want for C'mas is stirring up all sorts of unnecessary thoughts ... image

All this food... I am very hungry at the moment - it all sound delicious. Think I'll start at one table and do like a safari dinner if that's ok with everyone.

Enjoyed that choccie tart thanks Pat - had it with some raspberries out of the freezer (had to share with Fairy) and a dollop of that really nice creme fraiche that tastes like slightly sour clotted cream (none of that half fat rubbish) - yummity yum yum indeed. I could probably enjoy the fruit tart with some very good vanilla ice cream & a cup of tea a bit later on too... No wonder I'm fat image

Have had my lazy day interrupted by a distress call from OH. He set off first thing for a 60 mile ride with his cycling club and 20 miles in his chain broke. Couldn't be repaired at roadside so WRS (Wifey's Recovery Service) was called into play.

On the plus side he is now doing the washing up and diswasher emptying which I hadn't got round to doing due to noodling on here and being generally unenthusiastic about chores. And he's also offered to cook dinnerimage

    Hi allimage

No sun here Joyce and MU.  Too easterly central for thatimage.  Joyce did your daughter get home OK after the early start and did you manage to sleep an extra hour?  I was awake to take the dog as soon as it was light enough.

Dove your mindset is something I can only dream aboutimage.  Your Mum was a wise womanimage

My mind's a blank again.  Got to get on with shaping marzipan fruits.

escaped the madness to pop home for lunch.

I think everyone had their extra hour in bed then headed for Waitrose. We had a queue at every till before 10 and some were getting narked we'd not serve them, despite being told it's against the law. heyho.

Re grumpyness. Did anyone watch " Grumpy old me"? My girls watched it with their Mother:

    " that's Dad, that's Dad too, Yup , that's Dad, OMG that's soooooooooooooooooooo Dad"

    image

Why has everyone had to point out what a lovely day it is ?? I'm stuck behind a till. ( he says , grumpily ).

Back in at 2.30 , home at 4. Not bad.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend and good luck for tomorrow Wonky. I hope it goes well.

I'm in bed after an evening of satiation from a very nice dinner and then watching "the bridge" again. Our visitors hadnt seen it, so the DVD came out. I can't see us getting through all of the first series before they leave on Tuesday morning, though. I can imagine that they'll be buying all three series when they get home.  I've warned her about the Tunnel and the US version of the Bridge, but it's up to them. I still get a laugh when I remember when we tried to watch the US/Mexican one and we couldn't understand what the Mexicans were saying and tried for subtitles , but no english was available.image We gave up on it after that,

lovely photo Chicky.  I put a photo on the garden photos thread, earlier, of my poppy which is just starting to open. It think it'll be fully out tomorrow. Gorgeous colour. I bought the plant from a tiny rural garden shop last year and I don't think there was a label, but I was very taken with the one they had in flower at the time. I suspect it's P somniferum, but not sure.

Just come in from a very satisfying weeding session. Now me and OH are off for a walk round the punchbowl to admire the autumn colours ? .

Hows the landscaping looking Tbird - is it how it looked in your minds eye ?  Very exciting when transformations take place ?
