    Evening all.

Well today was not an easy start. The printer isn't printing, one school didn't turn up; two staff members are full of cold and so forcibly sent home, hail making the museum feel damp, and so many emails!

The cold and damp hit my joints hard today. I realised it's 12 years since The Big Accident. Time for a hit water bottle and rest for the evening.

Guess what we found between the floorboards of the bedroom? The old bakerlite light fittings! Well why would you throw them away?

They're worth money Clari. There are collectors!

Well, this Wikipedia article does mention that some bakelite items are collectibles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bakelite#Collectible_status

However, it mentions "jewelry and radios", not electrical fittings. I do remember the days when the only kind of "plastic" items around the house were electric switches and (parts of) the radio set.

Morning all. Dark, cold, wet, when do the clocks go back?

Still at least it's Friday. Only 90 children, some printer technicians, and an unknown amount of staff to get through.

His other half didn't manage much DIY yesterday unfortunately; the dog was too busy harassing him and generally being a pain apparently. We're also celebrating grandfather's birthday at the weekend so won't get any done then. Times like this when you realise how much of a pain it is not having family and good friends (you know the kind that would actually muck in in return for free food and drink) close by.

Still... too early to be mentally coming up with ideas for decorating?

    Morning all.

My rubbish sleep patterns have plumbed new depths.

Why have I been awake since 5.30?

Looks like it's dry out so a good day in the garden beckons.

    Good morning all image

Hosta, that seems a perfectly normal time to wake for me. I've done that all my adult life - feeding the animals and milking the goats befor getting breakfast of the rest of the family!  Maybe you're designed to be a smallholder image

Clari. There really are people who buy the old light switches and door handles etc. to restore houses to be authentically accurate to their period. I frequently used to see people buying them at antiques auctions - have a look on EBay.
