Hosta - have you seen this video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rB_3IDy9gc seems a pleasant way for you and your Lovely Hub to spend a day - although I'm sure the chap's white beard is noticeably longer at the end of the film
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Those logs are too fat! We have some rocks to shift but nothing huge. Someone has used them to edge beds in the gravel zone but not very well. Not urgent as we can't do anything with the beds till we've had a lot of rain. Good luck with your Hosta.
Saw a Japanese maple growing in full sun and covered in seed wings in Mouthiers today when we went to pick up our compost bins. Encouraging for the 2 I've brought with me. All plants seem fine so far but I need to get my clematis Blue Angel/Blekitny Atholl back in the ground asap as I didn't have a pot deep enough to bury all his roots properly and I don't want him complaining.
I've bought some fat and seed balls. Just need to find my feeders now so I can take them out of their strings and get some peanuts up too. Need to think about where to place the feeders too.
Enjoy the barn dance Busy. Haven't been to one since I was at school so a very long time ago......
I liked the look of that house dug into the hillside but not the scooters.
Back to the unpacking of the dining room now and then maybe we need to clear a path in the outhouse so chappy can get to the CH oil tank to fill it for winter......
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Love your barn dance story Runny - it all sounds very romantic. Can't remember where, when or who was my first kiss - and they say you never forget. Probably RH - and he was a right muppet!
Hope you enjoy your evening Lizzie - swing your partner by the hand etc etc
New house & garden sounds good Obelixx.
Watched the first bit of the rock moving video. Am I the only one who thought it all looked a bit dangerous? Didn't like it when the guy walked up the slope and stood in front of the boulder (need a squished smiley here). Hope you have more sense Hosta.
We're away again tomorrow so I've had to cut the grass and water the pots in the (rather heavy) drizzle. I'm sure the neighbours all think I'm bonkers - they could be right
Must crack on - SYL

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Lovely story, Runnybeak. My first kiss was in the barn of the next door farm. I went out with him for 4 months, it worried my father who thought I was too young, I was 14 (or was it 15?).
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I think ihe rock moving video was all very precarious and seemed totally ineffective, but they appeared to be perfectly happy and the birdsong was lovely - I think they were enjoying themselves - I wonder how far the rock has moved - maybe they go out there every sunny day and move it a few more inches ..............
perhaps Hosta is a little more impatient than those two .......

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
His lordship has pulled a muscle in his back so we're rather static today.
We have however chosen paint colours (yay), I've designed a bench / cupboard / storage area for under the stairs (yay) and... we're debating not having the £30 stud wall between the kitchen and lounge but fitting bifold doors instead (read well over £300). Open plan in the summer, snug small lounge come winter.
Ob your adventures with your new house sound... so calm and relaxed!!
Clari, you're doing so much to the house, you've been living in chaos for so long, don't spoil the end result with a nasty, cheapy fireplace! Carpets? A few nice rugs or - if you haven't got any - autumn, winter's coming anyway and you wouldn't want to spoil a nice new carpet with big muddy Reggie paw marks, now would you.
I think we'll be going with the rustic bare floors with good slippers for this winter / spring!
As for his muddy feet: you should see the state of the kitchen floor after today's rain. I swear a bit of miracle grow you'll be finding plants growing.
