Been awake for ages, too light, would much rather have the light at the end of the day. Its like a 2 hour clock change as I was so recently in France. I took the children to school in France in the dark as they started at 8am after 11 yrs. Better to come home in the light, school finished at 5pm.
Hate winter time.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Trying to remind myself of all the good things about dark evenings One is that weekends gain extra reading time, as I am forced inside by about 4 ......I have a stack of unread magazines and books which I am looking forward to working my way through????.
I am also looking forward to getting up in the light for the next few mornings - and I would certainly hate having to drive to work in the dark (bad enough coming home).
And the autumn colours at the moment are beautiful ???????
Thats as much Pollyanna as I can muster at the moment ......need more tea
I don't see the point of changing clocks either. Load of billhooks.
Certainly wasn't light here at 6.30 when I got up to take daughter to work. Her father's wriggled out of that nicely. Funny how he suddenly started having the girls on Friday night instead of Saturday since she started working at 7am on Sundays....
I took sleeping pills when my ex husband suddenly left. I was aware of the danger and only took them for a short while, but I couldn't have functioned if I hadn't got some sleep, as the girls were young. It was sensible for me, but I think it's horrific how many of these drugs are handed out and then not properly monitored.
Been watching Carole King's Hyde Park concert playing Tapestry in it's entirety. Heaven. Got a bit teary, silly old mare
She's the original Carol Klein of course, as that's her real/given name
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good morning everyone. Bright and sunny again here but I'm feeling groggy after a migraine started yesterday but didn't really develop. Odd but better than the real thing. Didn't watch Strictly cos of the visual disturbance so have that to look forward to later.
I avoid painkillers as much as possible. Not convinced the over the counter ones work - plus either liver of stomach damage potential - and don't want complications from the hard stuff after seeing friends having problems with them.
I need to do some h*work today and give the dogs a serious walkies as they didn't get one yesterday and then I'll be pottering outside.
Did anyone else spot that Carol K's garden through the year is back on Sunday mornings? Seen it before but still full of good ideas and propagating tips.
Happy Sunday everyone. Hope all the insomniacs get a better sleep tonight.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
I'm beginning to wonder if I have a problem - I really find it impossible to be grumpy - I can get annoyed/be cross etc for a few moments, but I can't be grumpy - do you think it's a result of having been reared by Ma to 'never complain 'cos other people have it worse' and lots reading of Pollyanna, and then making the best of being married to someone who 'didn't really suit me' ................ am I annoyingly cheerful? Do say if I am and I'll try to be grumpier ........
Radio 3's River of Music on now .................................
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning all. Anyone know how to program a cat so she understands GMT? She woke me at 5.53 this morning, albeit in a warm and purry way, an hour before I wanted to be awake.
Hope the grogginess wears off, Obelixx. I've obviously missed Carol Klein this morning but thanks for the info - it might help with GW withdrawal symptoms (admittedly not as serious as the problems with getting off strong medication...)
Chicky, thanks for your thoughts re fruit patch. It feels a bit brutal to remove established bushes, but if nobody can pick fruit from further in than 3 feet, needs must.
Is there a reliable method of deciding, in autumn/winter, what currant bushes you have, other than smell? Well under half appear to be blackcurrants by the smell method. Some are 6 feet tall and could be Josta or something similar, but leaves & wood are unscented.
Better get dressed before Beechgrove.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Obelixx - strange, my hubby had exactly the same thing happen to him yesterday with a migraine threatening, visual disturbance and general 'weirdness' but then it never fully came out. He's still abed, feel a bit sorry for himself. Thanks for letting us know about Carol Klein - that's going on the sky planner!
Morning all - rubbish nights sleep here too & struggling to be enthused by 'Jobs to do' list. Might end up doing a jigsaw or two instead
You were in my part of the world yesterday BL - 2 quintessentially Suffolk places aren't they? and so pretty with the autumn colours. We were enjoying the delights of an industrial estate in Loughborough - don't ask..
Food sounds good Dove and Pat - love pheasant and choccie tart. Friend coming to stay next week so perhaps I should do some baking for the freezer.
Welcome TTC - nice part of the world to live in. The forum is addictive - you may regret finding it if we have a busy day. Nothing gets done then
Hope you get out to the hills soon Fairy - always enjoy your pics. See you met a whole group of strange young men last time - and in uniform too - is one per trip not enough now ?
Enjoy your Sunday folks - landscaper has barred me from my own garden as it has been levelled, rolled and raked ready for returfing on Thursday (forgot to tell the cat though!) - so all tasks this week are indoor, domestic.

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
