Been back out again, probably for the last time before back to school after the break. More levelling been going on and now have a really nice flat area other than the tree stump which has some holes drilled for future bees to maybe make a home of, Thankyou for the suggestion.
I have another raised bed to put in behind and offset to the current one and will bark infront of both of these do I can walk close to the beds.
then behind im hoping to be able to get a wildflower meadow/patch going but think the soil is currently going to be too good as it is a beautiful black colour!
Well done Miss KK. It's certainly looking flat now. Because of your tree stump,I've decided to keep one or two now,and grow ferns and encourage moss! ( Should be a doddle with our Welsh weather)
I've planted,Lemon Thyme,Saxifraga, and poked Aubretia into pockets in the wall. Moved the birdbath, shifted a few rocks, now completely knacked,so having hot cup of tea and a digestive to revive me!
The best day weatherwise for a long time in this neck of the woods!???
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
I think a few of of the deciduous hedge bushes that I planted haven’t taken. Annoying but I overplanted with the intention of thinning the weaker ones out. I do however have my spring bulbs finally starting to show, was getting a bit worried about that tbh.
It's been a gorgeous day hasn't it? Plenty of sun and even warm earlier on to be out in shirt sleeves.
I've been sorting one of the beds that is mostly in the shade during the summer months but gets quite a bit of sun in the spring. Split some crocus and moved some tulip and daffodil bulbs around.
Scrabbled around under the shrubs before they get too bushy again and pulled out a few brambles/briers (depending where you are) before they take over.
Just planted seeds ( Echinicea , Delphiniums and Cosmos ) in my new propagator with adjustable thermostat , so quite excited. to see how that performs . Been itching to play with it since it arrived !!
Son-in-law mowed the lawn, OH helped to clear a small greenhouse and I pottered - very pleasant outside today. Birds loved it too, with virtually no wind and all day sunshine.
Lovelly day, helped Hubby move some of new fence panels, and concrete grtavel boards down the garden to make a start tomorrow, planted up a big pot, summer bulbs, potted on my achillias, watered citrus trees in greenhouse, he did some pruning and tidying up, (all washingh done and dry not gardening I know!)
I cut down the clems and the roses apart from the ones I need to look up first. Chucked some bonemeal here and there and weeded the linaria seedlings out of the pieris pot, will put them up the allotment.
Saw my chimney bees for the first time this year, very glad to see they are ok. Don't think there's much for them to eat at the mo but if they've still got reserves they are pretty much through the winter. For the first time a couple of dozen bees have got into the house over winter. I think they were probably already weary, dying bees that probably fell off the clump and climbed out from a gap somewhere as only a couple flew off when released, most were unable to fly and died. Glad to see the swarm is still in place anyway, have bought them some new flowers and made them a larger watering hole pondside for this year
Wonderful VS, do you have any pictures of the hive? Doing all I can to encourage bumbles or chimney/tree bees here. I hear the first prefer a vacant mouse nest, sniffing out the urine scent.

Nope, all it's done is rain all day and I wanted to get my wild garlic bulbs along the hedgerow, maybe tomorrow?

What a wonderful day, felt like the end of winter
