Yay, actually got out in the garden today? Got the little mower out for a tidy of the lawns, tidied borders and edges, pruned hydrangea and fucshia's that have come thru the winter in the greenhouse, not really sure what i was doing but did it anyway.....yesterday i potted up some dahlia tubers, there is so much to do, it was just nice to get out their and get my hands dirty! I spotted allium mount everest about 4" through the ground, i only had 1 last year, so invested in a few more for this year, love them. Hope others have been busy too, in between the showers!
Actually managed to get out today during twins' naptime. Only twenty minutes in the rain but got so much done - maybe 75% of the cutting down of last years' echinacea, salvia, helenium. Also managed to comb out some of the old festuca Elijah blue, pruned back hydrangea.
Garden looking a lot neater with all that brown gone ?.
I got out today for the first time since autumn! I've been so busy with work and Ive actually moved out too (it's my mums garden). It's not looking too bad though, I was expecting a lot worse. I think there's a few echinaceas and black eyed Susan's that haven't made it through the Northern winter, but I'm not sure if it's too early to tell? I've cut them right back and they seem pretty dead.
Had a few hours in the greenhouse. Sowed some more sweet peas, brizia and lupins. Lots of seeds sowed last week and the week before have come through including kale - first year of growing it so very excited!!
Decided I'm going to grow my tomatoes in grow bags in the greenhouse this year as can't summon up the effort to renew the soil in greenhouse beds. Got a couple of grow bags from the garden centre that were being sold off as they are from last years supply. Hope they will be ok...maybe I should just buy new. Decisions decisions. I'm thinking that a bag of compost unopened from last year is fine, so why not the grow bags.
Good day yesterday at allotment, pruned 4 Gooseberrys bushes , was hoping to do a bit move in garden today but started rs ing at 10-00"and hasn't stopped
Think grass needs cutting lf we Have a few dry days
You have all been so busy, but we haven't done any gardening here today, but have been visiting public gardens to glean some ideas. So very windy here, but mostly dry.
Envious hearing about all the gardening that has been done today! Rain stopped play here - it was a monkey's birthday for hours (see Hello Forkers @ 11:29 from Catnap, 14:32 from Obelixx and 16:08 from AuntyRach)!
My forecast is dry tomorrow (although I doubt my grass will be!) so I'll be out doing bits and bobs. My goal is to finish removing the 'brown' as, like you say Andy, the garden looks instantly neat and tidy then.
Yesterday got my Gladioli planting under way doing a 3 weekly intervals , and put begonia bulbs in tray of compost. Also planted into pots of john innes 2 Sandersonia Aurantiaca hope they work .

Poured all day, and windy, so no gardening again.
