I recognised it, I have the black version in the house?
I think lots of plants look nice with stumps, only suggestion I would have is not something that will get trashed by snails as I imagine they will move into the stump area as well as the other critters
I like the stump too,and the idea of a little pond for insects. Our neighbour came up with an idea for our Leylandii stumps, there are three in a row which he suggested levelling off and making into a bench,I have found some round paving, which would do for a path to it!
Nearly everyday something comes to light in this badly neglected garden we have inherited,it must have been nice once...........?????
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
It's been really nice in the south east today, about 7 degrees and even starting to feel some heat from the sun. Just need to have woolies on against the wind.
It has snowed all day here -wet stuff that melts a bit, but then more comes along, so it has built up over the day and now everything is completely white. Low temps predicted for oivernight too.
I have so much that needs doing and haven't been able to get out and do anything of substance all year. The odd bit of fine weather has been used repairing fences damaged in the winter storms, so the sheep don't get where they aren't meant to!
No point rushing into seed sowing either as things start late here, but I have had some fun with the catalogues
I was looking forward to some time outside today, the forecast last night was for a dry,if cold day, however this has changed overnight and now expecting more snow and sleet!
It's so changeable lately!?
l think I'll go and buy a Clematis instead to grow against a dry stone wall, summer flowering..................any suggestions??

I've been out of the country for 13 years, and looked for Jackmanii and President etc, only to find they don't seem to be popular any more! I couldnt locate them in our garden centre, and when l asked, was met with a blank stare!!
Many thanks. ?

You all put me to shame I only went to plots this pm To pick sprouts & dig some more parsnips. Then the sleet started so retreated again.
Iain, rain, sleet or snow has meant no gardening of any sort for a week.
If you got some more stumps hanging around why don't you make a stumpery, fill some cracks in with soil and add some ferns it look natural

Etoile violette... a gorgeous colour against stone and flowers all summer.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thank you Dove, I've made a note of that.
