I put the cover back on the polytunnel and put more bricks on it. I planted a load of old bulbs I found in a trench in the veg patch. They'll either grow or not. I cut off the leaves so that I can see the hellebore flowers. I put the brown bin out for the first collection this year. I found two seedling camellias growing under the camellia plant. I will pot them up to see if they come to anything. As the squirrels are rather partial to camellia flowers, this must have dropped from one they missed.
I bought the potted witch hazel down to the house so that we can see the flowers.
My plot visit was another look - see apart from picking sprouts. At my suggestion 4 of us have bought a bulk bag of Charlotte seed potatoes & we will divi them up between us. Much cheaper than buying individual bags. Charlotte seem to do very well on our site and a couple of our our set say that's the only one they are going to grow this year. Problem now is to find a frost free place to chit them.
Over the last couple of days I've planted a Rubus occidentalis 'Jewel', a Blackberry 'Karaka black' and 5 Raspberry 'Joan J' canes. I've also built supporting structures and attached wires. Fingers crossed that they all do well!
Hope so Slum - raspberries aren't too tricky, as a rule
I've started sowing tomatoes and chillies indoors, sweet peas and broad beans in the polytunnel. After this next cold snap this week I'll move my autumn sown broad beans and peas out of the polytunnel to harden off so I can get them in the ground in a couple of weeks.
It's our local 'potato day' in two weeks and I'm planning to go this year, if I can. The blurb says I can buy seed potatoes there as individual tubers rather than by the bag, which is always too much for my small plot. Hopefully I can try some new (to me) varieties as well
Gardening on the edge of Exmoor, in Devon

Raisingirl- Yes at most Potato days you can usually buy small numbers of tubers or some stands do a "fill a bag". So for a fixed price you can mix & match, good idea to take some kitchen paper sheets with you as separators between layers as unless they are very distinctive they will get mixed up. I agree great way to try different varieties. Have fun.
I live in a odd little pocket that often has it‘s own weather, it’s actually quite common if you live above a valley as the clouds get caught in it. So today it was bright sunshine and about 12c, in north Derbyshire. So I painted my fence, most of it anyway. Out of 12 panels the back of 5 need a second coat. Did the shed last week, after this all the nasty jobs will be done yay.
Got in all my saliva plants grown from seed last year and have been on the balcony all winter took off all the old stems dead leaves, slugs, snails and granfer's that had blown, slid or crawled in.
They are all showing signs of life lots of little green shoots, so now they are in the warm I hope they will romp away.
As for the hangers on they are all making new homes in the compost bin.
Same here carole - my OH painted the new tortoise house - which is in the conservatory for now where it is slightly warmer than outdoors and I stayed indoors to do some hated Spring cleaning. It has to be done!
