Too wet and cold and all my perrenials are hiding under ground. Even the bulbs don't seem to want to stick their heads right out and flower yet, They seem to be waiting for just the right temperature.
None here for ages as it's been too dry after a 16 month drought but now the rain has arrived he soil should, at last, be workable for weeding and planting. Today I intend planting out 3 trees - weeping and twisted willows plus a golden rain tree and, if OH is willing to dig a 4th hole, my gunnera which I shall probably have to cut out of its pot. Might even get some weeding done too.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Snowdrops are really clever. When the spent buds have fininshed the stems grow long enough to bend over to "plant" their seed pod heads back into the soil .
Mine are mutiplying rapidly now. I will need to divide them.
Forum ate my post, planted A Lot of daffs, a couple of David Austin roses and a rhododendron in the back garden, my soil is neutral to alkaline but for some reason the other rescued from the discount isle for 99p rhododendron did ok so I’m risking the expensive fancy one.
Hollie Hock- yes I found the same when I sated using a heated propagator. You will want a grow light next! I have a florescent type call a sun blasterI it goes on & on.
I just dug out an enormous concrete slab from my new flowerbed, this thing is about 3ft x 2ft and was j6 inches under the soil for literally no reason. Only wanted to plant a couple of small things and it turned into this epic mission. On the plus side the big dip In the middle of the lawn got filled in a bit and I have a new concrete slab.
Planted out my golden rain tree which started life as one of 6 teeny seedlings from the garden of a friend in my garden group. Only one survived winter in my greenhouse - jolly cold that year - and I grew it on. It came with us from Belgium and has spent the last 15 months in its beautiful deep blue ceramic 60cm pot waiting for the drought to end.
It's gone into a good, fertile loam and been well watered in and will be watered regularly all this first year. I hope it likes its new home.
