Bulbs are popping throw , getting heavy frosts thou image

  • GWRS do you have anything to do with the bulb industry in your area?  I remember when working at a horticulture based firm here that we sent equipment to Spalding and other Lincs. addresses where growing was quite an important industry.

Guernsey D , simple answer no , lots of bulbs still grown , it looks quiet spectacular to see a field full of daffs  & tulips etc . Opium poppies also look special

Going to Garden Club tonight for a quiz

Cut out some of the old wood from a gooseberry and blackcurrant bush and a bit of weeding.

  • Raining for all of yesterday and most of today, so sown some seeds in the GH - dianthus, rudbeckia and verbena.  I hope to get out tomorrow, but I fear it will still be a bit soggy in the garden.

Had a walk round, in the sun, to see which bulbs were through and which plants were coming into growth.

We actually have a bit of rain after a long dry spell.   I've had some late, impulse buy bulbs saokig in water for a few days waiting for frosts to pass and have just planted most up in a small trough and a large square pot - helped by kittens.   Just waiting for the last coat of varnish to dry on my new terracotta pot so I can plant the last bulbs - perfumed poeticus daffs and some miniature glads.  Not the great blousy Dame Edna sort.

    hi

managed to get out to plant a couple of fruit trees purchased from local supermarket today and noticed my neighbour has appeared to have killed a kerria  i had by our joining fence. It has been there for 25 years but has mysteriously died I am very anti the use of chemicals.

Apart from letting his tyres down any other suggestions ?
