hi all been down this morn put bark chippings on floor of polly tunnel then boards on top of chips put large bench I got of next/door garden put half a black plastic rack in the 3ft space have got another 6ft I made up from bits of frame angle and trays for the tops and to make trays for plant trays will take up the rest of pots from home to garden next week I might put a bug candle or smoke candle to kill all bugs I may have missed ( put the pins my mate made me like a u shape a 12ins pin will take a gale to move that now
Hope your pond-digging is going ok, GD, saw a pic on another thread - it looks like it'll be pretty big?
Had some bare root roses turn up on Fri so got them planted out today. Now they've arrived I was able to plant up some daffs and alliums that were waiting to go in and move another rose and a couple of other plants. Feel like I've done a satisfactory amount of work there.
Finished rejigging the bog area planting and got some new drumstick prims in the ground (hoping for different colours). Deadheaded the cosmos and identified available planting spaces - got my beady eye on a few new things
Thanks VS, yes it is a fairly big area, not the 1 day job I hoped it might be!
It seems that you have been busy too with your planting and rejigging - can you share a picture of your bog area if poss. Where did you get your drumshick prims from - I had read they are good for bog areas (taken note to add to my list) - we are incorporating one near our pond (bog area).
Mostly a day off from gardening but bought 3 small bright red cyclamen from GC, looked at their pond planting baskets but they didn't have any liners (hessian).
everyone been busy today, maybe the weather was better for you all today, as it was for me. Wasn't sure what to do about 2 cosmos and my echinacea....potted them up and put in cool greenhouse? Dug up my one and only dahlia, as per monty's instructions....it is now drying in the shed, will wrap in newspaper until....well until someone says it is time to plant dahlia's!
cleared loads of leaves by shredding and collecting with mower, this is the sight before clearing...
The weather here today was completely different to yesterday, relatively warm and sunny although everything was still very damp in the garden. Managed to plant 300 narcissi bulbs (a bit late, I know!) I've gone for a lot of white varieties this year. Also filled about half of the new raised bed in the front garden. Still have 180 bulbs to plant but they are tulips, so no real rush to get those in.
I also leave my dahlias in the ground GWRS. I find they survive fine as long as I keep an eye out for slugs and snails once they start sprouting.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
My dahlias are in the ground too, apart from 20 that I grew from seed and planted in 2 troughs. I dug them up today, now drying off upside down. They had developed good tubers. I've added more compost to the troughs and planted bellis daisies for the spring. I've emptied 2 more troughs of bedding begonias but can't plant the pansies yet because I've run out of potting compost.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Loana, I always turn my dahlias upside down so the moisture can come out of the stem.:)

Started to tie in new stems of blackberries and cut out the old fruited ones, also the loganberries. Run out of string.
