Sarcococca is a really brilliant plant, definitely in my top 10 of shrubs, grows in shade, evergreen, stays small and manageable, amazing smell, best is Sarcococca hookeriana var. digyna for smell, but S. confusa is a lovely looking plant. I have a tiny one called Sarcococca hookeriana var. humile which is only 30cm high. I've also grown S. ruscifolia but that didn't do as well. Watch out for blackfly on the young growth!
Hi there, visited an interesting nursery this w-end and could not resist buying a few specimens of Fortune saxifrage, lovely flowers, typically Japanese. Must be cultivated in shade, but as I don't have much shady space left in my garden will probably grow them in pots.

Sarcococca, good winter perfume! Now that sounds lovely I wish you all would stop tempting me with these plants. It will go on my wish list .
