From the tiny seeds sown in early April...

Aster "Duchess" (pic doesn't show but it's the colour of a cadbury wrapper image)

And the first flower on one of the cosmos plants

Despite following Verdun's advice to pinch & pinch, some plants are still over 5ft high. One yet to flower has more of a trunk than a stem, its like a small tree image

  • Just been admiring your Rudbeckias Busy Lizzie and mine look dreadful by comparison, they have dried up even though I have been watering them once or twice a day - a good soaking too.

As promised here is the lily which came into flower last week. The first picture is the bud which looks o.k. but the actual flowers are messy.  We used to have 20 or more but seem to be down to two at the moment.image

Kitty 2 I absolutely LOVE your Duchess Aster. I have just got to have some of those seeds for next season. My favourite colour!

    Here's the beast image

That's a 6ft fence panel image  It's still quite bushy but I'm never able to grow the neat little mounds others seem to have. They were over 8ft last year Verdun so I must be getting better image

Thanks LB and hollie, my first ever asters and I'm pleased with how they turned out.

The pleione looks very exotic LB, never seen it before, thanks for sharing.

Whoa respect to you Kitty for your monster cosmos. You must have some good stuff in your soil! image

Sweetpeas! I grew them from seed for the first time this year image

Tomatoes! First edible thing I've grown ('minibel' a patio variety).
