No need to starve yourself aym280! The heleniums are Sahins Early Flowerer, which are more tolerant of dry soil than most. I'm still shocked at how well they have done though. They're just having a second flush, so though they might start flowering earlier they just keep on going
So much for the cool restful blue/purple theme I had been aiming for. Not sure what happened there.....
Aw, thank you, aym. OH took the photos, the garden looks rubbish when I take the photos! I got the heleniums as plants from Hayloft. They got a bit slugged at the start, but the slugs were distracted by the salvia next to them which helped ;-)
I think the penstemon is Firebird - bought from the local greengrocer's for £1.50 each a couple of years ago and are very happy.
I've always loved fuchsias,my dad bought me one when I was about 10years old.I saw it outside a shop that we were passing.I kept it in doors, didn't know how to look after it so it died.

These dahlias are so vibrant. Lovely large clump of autumn crocus Zenjeff.
