It's a sloping half plot with 10 mature fruit trees and a huge raspberry patch, low hedges clipped by the chap who has the other half of the plot who uses the shed on our half, we're v happy for him to carry on ! We met him and the next door holder who we knew a bit before, everyone so friendly and positive, definitely takingit, v excited, hope we can have a better go with this one!

haven't got official agree, ent yet but am already thinking what to do under and around all fruit trees, it's thick grass complete with dandelions, dock and borage, is best plan just to cover with black plastic leaving a circle round tree bases? longer term what should i do? jst sow grass? wildflowers? hardy geraniums? all advice as always vv welcome thankyou in advance

Finally got my broadband sorted. Sky sent me a new box, so back online.

Everyone seems to have been busy.  Finally got the 2nd GH up, it just needs glass fitting.  I've been busy planting out. Lots of peas and broad beans. Sowed in the ground for the first time too, mooli and carrots.

Rosemummy , sounds really interesting , your own orchard  , any chance of pictures , might help with suggestions , any idea of type of fruit ?

Need to get to grip with rasberry bed , took years to sort out the one we inherited

Rosemummy that is brilliant you could get some fruit this year, I would cover them and leave for a while keep the soil close to tree without to much growing so tree does not compete with plants for food , forgot where abouts are you?

Hello Zommer44 glad you got internet now, are both gh's on your plot?

Yesterday sold some of the plants at the spring fayre so now have some money towards a hose for Woolston garden project, was a sunny day after a bit of rain when setting up - did feel cold though as we were in the shade

Went to the allotment plot in the afternoon today so different when you have not been there for a while, lots grown weeds and my turf looking greener and calendula flowering, allotment gate back to combo lock as there was another break in last week

I could hear the bluetits all chirping in the bird box Amazing I have little babies in there

Scroggin I will start to harden off celeriac if you are

GWRS with the chick peas did you pick and eat them straight away or do you have to cook them?

thanks Gg, should I cover area right up to tree trunks then? should I feed anything this year or wait til I get the grass and weeds down? no one's exactly sure what the trees are, been told some apples, and a couple of plums and pears, I can't tell , blossom's just ending, also don't know if raspberries are summer or autumn fruiting so what would be the best plan there? going to make sure I post acceptance today, want to get going asap!
