Forgot to say went to Wyevale on Friday to use my vouchers £9 worth - so I got a blackcurrant plant for free Ben Lomond - was great as also 50% off at min in sale and some tool hooks for inside shed for free, also a pound off some gardening gloves and then a bird suet block

I have ordered up some bird food so will have plenty for the big garden bird watch at end of month

    Sounds like some good bargains.

. Not sure yet how to fix the shed  roof, it's blown off in one piece and landed upside down on the kale. I've two sheds and this one is empty, had planned to put in shelving but not got round to it yet so nothing will get damaged if it rains.

Went to the plot today and tidied the other shed.

I would say you and someone else to lift it up and put back on shed then try and fix it somewhere or with spare wood - same thing happened to someone on my site shed 6 by 4 they put the shed roof back on in the last storm

    lucky nothing in the shed

hoping my shed ok not been to look yet

It's heavy even for two people, might need to take it apart and re do the roof. Won't be able to do anything till next weekend though...

Hello Gardengirl , you did well at Wyvedale image

  • Zoomer, sorry to hear about your shed, hope you can fix it.

I've started reading back through part 1 of this thread, to see if I can pick up any tips and also out of interest and to look at photos. I thought I might have seen some of the other plot holders by now, I've met two, but I suppose for some it is a not a winter hobby.

Interested to hear that some of you have associations, shops, toilets etc. It sounds very nice! Mine is council run, no committee as far as I am aware and there are no facilities, water etc.

Edit to the above, (I hadnt been able to post until just now due to getting runtime errors and had pasted the post into my notes) apparently there is an allotment association on another site nearby! Will go and recce it on the weekendimage

Hello Victoria Sponge and welcome to the new allotment thread,  nice you have been reading back through so many post to look at that way

I am one with the toilet and shop on allotment site heading to the shop on the weekend as they are meant to have new seeds in, Nice if you can look at the other site see if you can join

There are other people that are on other allotment sites that are members of the site I am on for the shop,  Got to pay the £4 on the weekend for the year which give discounts on some things

Think you will see more people when spring time comes as not all do winter at allotment

Going to plot today hope to get some digging done lots to do

  • Hi Gardengirlimage

It was my next door neighbour on my allotment site that tipped me off, so I must be able to join as he doesn't have a plot there either. It's £1 per year to join and apparently they have a shop which sells things cheaper than elsewhere.

Have fun on the plot, I've already been up today as weather was okay.
