Good idea of the collie line Scroggins. I take my dogs to my plot, made a nice comfy bed in the shed for the older one to lie on, the younger one likes wandering around but she doesnt roam far, so I dont bother tying them up any more.

Didnt go to my plot this weekend, too much to do in the garden. Sowed lots more seeds though, cucumbers and corgettes etc. Will plant my potatoes this weekend as will have more time. Glad the clocks are changing too.image

Annoying that some one is taking your pallets GG, image hope you find out who it is!!

It is annoying,  it is 4 pallets that have been taken plus another from before and noticed that the round wood pole missing which I was going to use for a step over apple tree when I get one

I will mark as many pallets and wood as possible with the blue paint I brought, I also made 2 signs and laminated them put up last night on the plot saying - please do not take my wood/ pallets,  hope that will help too as It may not look like much done on the plot but there is someone on it   and they all should know the rules

pic the pallet pile was same height as pile behind

4 pallets is like a whole car loads worth and lots of effect and all the travelling to get them -- you think pallets are normally available

Aster2 sounds as though you enjoyed your day

Ginagibbs clocks change more light later in evening but do lose an hour on Sunday as 6pm will be 7pm  - nice to sort garden out  - so much to sort in the garden here but am doing little bits

seed sowing been doing more here too

Gg why not put on the notice pallets have been post coded due to theft.

Also have a walk up the plot and let one or two plot holders know you've had pallets stolen and would they let you know if they see anyone on your plot, just a thought...

You could also move them to the far end of your plot and cover with black plastic making them harder to steal...

Planted some gladioli bulbs today and finished the shed base.

Gardengirl, fingers crossed that you won't lose any more pallets.

I bought a hoe and a watering can today, now the spring can come!

The guy on the neighbouring plot has planted out his spuds, says so long as there is no growth above ground a late frost won't harm them, I'm not convincedimage

When are you guys planting out your spuds...

Good Friday is the traditional day for planting potatoes

I am going to do some potato planting this week as the chitting shoots are really tall about 3 inches they will go into the raised bed then most of the others will go into the bags,  except the allotment ones need to dig an area for them

With the pallets they think it is someone on the site - the people in the shop and I guess the council - have an eye on the guy in the corner which is up my end but opposite side as he has a big ship container on his plot they think he is a thief

Wow, let's hope they catch him.

I've always wondered about the Good Friday planting, because Easter is a movable feast. This year especially it's very early.

I'm not going to plant my potatoes for a while yet, because I've sown mustard in the bed, as green manure, and it's been slow germinating. (I suppose it'd have helped had I realised I have to water it from time to time... Sigh.)

Things have gone missing they said in the shop - someone had a gh delivered to the plot flat packed and that went - they have marked up the door part so if that goes missing they will know and someone else a roll of netting which cost a lot about £100 went missing so lots going on

Good Friday is early and does move about - would be the first bank holiday of the year that is why they would plant their potatoes  then

I would plant last week in march potatoes not in too much of a rush but shoots are too high and want to grow

Gg, I hope they catch him too.

My spuds have chitted at different rates, nice purple shoots though but here in the NW we are still getting lots of frosty mornings.
