  • Hello

Zoomer44 that is sad you not thinking of taking on another plot?, good lot of bulbs you got

Scroggin your sweet peas look good

Emma28  my allotment nice and flat so other than up and down hills on path which I will dig and level no issues with path

Terry29 glad you can get to your plot now, can we have a picture please

Ginagibbs nice that you had a bird in your box, I spotted a bird checking out the caravan in the garden so exciting

GWRS weather may still be good and you can go to the plot nice to have bits to do

Been to the plot today done some more digging of the brambles bit more of an area cleared, went to the shop potatoes are in - I have not decided where I will grow any

things have been happening around site there are now no fly tipping signs in car park on fence, and someone has been evicted from their plot as they did not pay rent ad to give keys back in not allowed on allotments - but sometime someone said they have came back on site and dug up there fruit tree and are wanting to take their shed so we all on look out for van or cars with trailers that we don't know

I took this picture when I first took over the plot last year. I have the top half (including the shed). You can see the muddy 'path' on the left. Adding the railing is a good idea but it might stop the people lower down accessing their beds.

  • Hi Emma28, why don't you try some wood chippings on your  path. I have a sloping path and got fed up with slipping and twisting my ankles. The wood chip absorbs the moisture and makes it so much easier to walk on as it levels out the groundimage. Our council arrange to get free chippings from local tree surgeons, or you could arrange it yourself.

Hello Emma , yes it is a steep path , Ginagibbs surgestion of wood chips seem a good cheap answer ,

you could still try and put a couple of steps in , see if you can get any old brick people don't want , best of luck , you will have to keep us updated

Been to plot today , not bad weather wise , o/h planted some more shallots and gladioli

Harvested a load of sprout still a few left

I finished putting grease band around fruit trees and winter washed them , didn't do a lot as got a slight chest infection from last weeks lurgy

    Hope everybody is ok image

  • Hello been allotmenteering today  -Yesterday after a bit of wood post painting in the garden went to the allotment -  done some more digging started on path between my plot and next door, found lots of bits of metal - now have a big pile to take to the tip sometime

Today been digging out holes for the post as they are for the bird boxes - hammered them in after a bit had some help with bigger hammer, then screwed the bird houses to another bit of wood and then to the post, so have two bird boxes on plot still to do the robin one yet and may be another

So amazing and they look really good

I got some free sweet peas today for singing up to a garden website you too can get free seeds http://goto4gardening.co.uk/free-gifts/

GWRS glad you made it to your plot, I still have one tree to go in the garden must do that soon

Hello , hoping to go to allotment tomorrow image

  • Received an e-mail  from our secretary informing us that the new gate lock has already been vandalised but we still have clear access at the moment . So went down to the allotment yesterday , very little storm damage on site from Thursday which was good to see.

Planted my shallots and also some Garlic which I have never grown before so looking forward to seeing how they go .

Had a walk around our site and I think that there must be around 40% of the plots not being worked now . When I first took mine on I only had the choice of about 3 or 4 plots . Also I know that we don't have a waiting list , which is a shame as unworked plots look so sad and it makes the whole site look a bit neglected , maybe the having an allotment bubble has burst .
