    Good for you, scroggin!

I got half of the stuff I ordered with the strawberry mats, but not the strawberry mats. Sent an e-mail to the mail order company and they replied that i) the pegs that were missing should've been included, so they're sending them now, ii) there are no strawberry mats such as I'd ordered in the whole country, but they could offer smaller ones or a refund, iii) no mention of the special-offer mesh that should've been included for free, but which I forgot to mention in my e-mail to them. So I've replied, asking for a refund on the strawberry mats and about the freebie. No reply yet after more than a day. Not very impressed, but I'll give them a day or two before I launch into a full nagging mode.

On a more positive note, I got a new blueberry plant, so that makes three (so far).

  • Hi Aster,

With regard to your blueberry plant do they produce much fruit?  I had two but let them dry out so they both died!

Hi BobFlannigon, I don't know, I've only just got them this season. My allotmenteering book says that each plant will produce 2.5 - 5 kg of fruit, depending on the conditions. I've got them in pots (that I sunk in the ground), so I expect it'll be a bit less (the Trehane Nursery website says that pot-grown blueberry bushes will remain about 1/3 smaller than ones grown in open ground). I got three so as to have an early, mid-season, and late ones.

GWRS, I hope you had a nice holiday.

Just got an e-mail from the mail order company confirming they are sending the freebie and got a notification of the refund, so all is good. (Well, apart from the fact that I still don't have strawberry mats!)

Went to the plot to water seedlings. Can't believe how quick they've germinated and grown. Nearly half the onion sets in modules have shoots now.

Was going to start hardening off pea's and sweet pea at home ready to take to the plot.

Hope you had a nice holiday GWRS.

    Happy growing everyone.
