Gardengirl, I have a jostaberry , they are very vigorous growers , you need to give it a good prune to get fruit , which makes very nice jam

Got 2 apple trees which are still small , 1 plum , 1 fig and 1 quince , planted this year 2 pear trees

Also have 2 patio apple trees

Strawberry , Rasberry & Gooseberrys are good croppers

Have a Happy New everybody image

  • GWRS does Jostaberry taste more like the blackcurrant  don't like the taste of gooseberrys

How is the plum tree  - the one in garden think self seeded from next doors will get a winter wash hope it will help keep the bugs of it could not tree any fruit

thinking about a plum tree at allotment - can't remember the taste and can't find in shops

O/H cooking very nice dinner then around to friends for a drink or 2

Hope 2017 is a good year for everybody image

  • Yes, I also use glue/grease bands on my fruit trees GWRS, mainly to stop ants climbing them and 'farming' aphids.  Here's to a productive year for everyone from me too. image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Thanks will use the winter wash and also grease band  on the plum tree, mum managed to get plums from the shop so will try when ready

Got my cutting it is in a plant pot so I have time to figure out where to put it, also as mum likes gooseberry he offered her a cutting so now will have to find somewhere in the garden for that a yellow variety

Scroggin know what you mean about the weeding good to see when you have removed a lot of weeds
