I do know there is garden all round the bungalow though at the moment garden pavement road are as one, several inches of snow making it so. Gardening nil snow clearing several cups of bovril later wins. We in the NE never sow or plant early, patience is definitely a virtue here.
Pruned some clematis, still have some to do. Checked greenhouse, everything fine. Should do more while the sun is shining but I'm starting a cold so thought I'd best take myself back indoors. Lots of new shoots and the bulbs are all showing so very excited at the promise of spring.
No need to dig myself out, Grandchildren arrive, now have Snowman complete with carrot nose pebble eyes and plant pot hat. They had sunshine to play, it has moved some snow on S and W, N and E sides still white. They are off swimming now, they do not feel the cold? I do.
I sorted my seeds out into month of sowing - does that count? The ground is as hard as iron. I tend to sow my seeds too early for Yorkshire, and they grow thin and weak in the miserable sunshine, no matter how warm and cozy I keep them.
Ground frozen solid so no outside jobs done but sowed some more seeds today, lovely and warm in greenhouse with the sun out. 4 lots antirrhinums - 5x petunia - 3x lobelia and some other seeds started, trying new guinea impatiens as well, already starting to running out of windowsill space. Them ricinus seeds are weird, remind me of them little chocolate easter eggs.
cannas moved inside to start them off.
fleeced plants inside greenhouse -3.8 C inside last night, -6 or -7 forecast tonight. I got a delphinium outside thinking its spring its over a foot tall already, it doesnt seem to give a dam about the frost we been having.

only gardening i'll get done is indoor, as we have a covering of snow here at the moment, though it is melting out quickly!

I lined my beds in the polytunnel and filled with water ready for the water lily split.

Perki, I know what you mean about the ricinus seeds looking like Easter Eggs, but they don't taste as good, so don't try.
