Today I have mostly been 'mining' my Brown Gold from one of several 'Dalek' compost bins - somewhat sweaty work but well worth the effort! Riddled out the twiggy bits (& banana labels etc), ready to mix with equal quantities of Levingtons (or similar quality) bagged compost from GC tomorrow when MrsM & I head to town for dental appointments!!

*Tip: using a Garden Claw horizontally thro' the basal hatch speeded up the process of loosening the well-packed compost prior to shovelling it out!!

You have been busy, Bob and David and lovely arch Keenimage

Didn't get the bog etc planted after all. Decide to move a campanula slightly as it was a bit too close to something and at an angle I didn't like. Hit a buried pile of old-timey rubbish 6 inches deep and had to smash it out with my sledgehammer. Took ages and now I have a mound of bricks, gravel heavy concrete and glass to get rid of somehow?

Tidied up before I got sick of my life, but later whilst sipping a cider in the sun, I managed to get another 5 or so plants in the ground.

Not including stuff in the holding pen, seedlings, dahlias or anything with more than one in a pot I still have more than a dozen plants to go in. That seems like a lot ?

Not gardening as such, but been away for the weekend, just returned and lots has changed!

Bluebells are up (not sure if English or Spanish but pretty anyway), gillenia trifoliata finally pushing its red stems through the soil (thought it was dead), queen of the night tulips looking fab, lots of foliage from oriental poppies and alliums looking yellow and frazzled (hope that's normal!?), clematis Rebecca bud beginning to open (only planted a couple of weeks back), lettuce seedlings definitely growing, beetroot appearing, beech hedge now green, wallflowers finally starting to flower and looking good, choisya white dazzler nearly flowering, same with blueberries.

    All in two days!

    Beautiful arch keenbutgreen!!!

Not so much gardening but gutted, scrubbed and painted inside and out the cement built shed. It's just painted white but is nice and bright inside with a seating area and room to move! and as it is at the end of the garden (small and narrow) it now makes it look longer.

Apart from that just repotting some seedlings. I feel like I have loads to do here and at the plot. My next two big jobs are relaying some patio and putting up the poly tunnel... and then copious amounts of seed sowing.

  • Seems like there has been lots of industrious peeps out in gardens today!

so lovely that spring is here, it gladdens the heart :)

been lovely today 25C sunny image I strange to think last week 4 inch of snow had squashed a lot of the plants. Been very very busy today image got out about 10.30 back in at 8.00pm when the midgets started biting. You know it hot when I got shorts, I even got my belly out image and got sunburnt on my back while planting.

Looks like everyone been basking in the sun image very nice arch Keen but it look better with the roses on.

I spent this morning potting on bedding plants some salvia - verbena, watering planting in GH took a while. But most of the day been mass planting, I laid out where plants are getting plant yesterday which helped speed it up. Planted and moved over 60 plants today, I've planted all sorts 3 type of heleniums - monardas - veroncastrum - lobelia tupa - astrantia - brunnera - dicentra - primulas - delephiniums - ligularia loads of plants image. I seem to still have lots to plant still to plant, but I still keep buying more and more image

  • Oh dear oh dear - popped out to the local co-op (not very local really, we don't have such things in our village!) and realised that the next town has a plant market every Monday. This is very bad news for me on Mondays :)

Managed to escape with just six plants - all good healthy 1L potted perennials - can't remember what now, my phone with the photos on is elsewhere in the house!) But six for £10 - pretty good going! Just annoyed the weather isn't allowing me go to out and find them new homes...

Managed to plant most of the hardy plants my friend brought 3 weeks ago. Watered lots of pots. Heat and wind drying them out, even the half barrels.  Stopped at 3pm as too hot for me.

Really hot here too Joyce for the past few days and I've been on annual leave image spent most of the time in the garden and have got lots done.

Constant drizzle today though but now I have a bigger plastic greenhouse thingy I was able to continue!

Pricked out snap dragons, zinnias, phlox.

    Nipped out cosmos

    Planted out sweet peas

Planted 3 sweet William bright eyes, 1 lavender, 4 maroon hollyhocks

Had a bit of a general tidy and now time for a cuppa!

Verdun, looking forward to seeing your pictures this year! image
