I weeded the shrub bed in the front garden, trimmed the lavenders around the edges and the caryopteris and pruned the sambuccus Black Lace from about 8 feet to about 3 feet. Then I mowed the front lawn.
Then I put fertiliser around 45 roses, mostly climbers and shrubs, and 22 clematis. Another 5 climbing roses to feed but run out of fertiliser.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Pottered about tidying up and trying to decide the planting spots for two cold frames and half my patio area full of plants, some moved, most bought and potted on last year, including 14 Clematis with only two repeated
Nope, alternate rain and freezing weather and lots of wind so I'm reading Colour in the flower garden by Gertrude Jekyll. It's been on my shelf for 15 years and I never got into it.......before now and I'm a big fan.
OH and O&O are now on their way to a weekend of playing trains so I have a weekend all to myself, so after a quick bit of food shopping, and a sweep round with the vacuum I finished my lunch at the GC with coffee and lemon sponge. Had a good look round and resisted further temptation from the lovely looking plants and bought shallot sets, 7 packets of veg seed and a bag of JI No1 for potting up and pricking out.
I'm now ready for a weekend of gardening so watch this space.
