Veg garden is all planted up now, planted over 20 troughs and big pots, still some more to do. But done nothing for the last 2 days, heavy rain.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Haven't spent much time out today but what I did was fun image

Edged and tidied up the stolen strip on the other side of my railings. Something seems to have happened to the rosebays that had crawled out from my garden. They are all mangled and vanished but everything else looks fineimage

Moved two grasses that haven't done well to see if it perks them up. Thought one didn't look too bad after all but then realised I'd dug up a kniphofia by mistake...

Dug up some alliums that have been blind the last two years, gladiator or globemaster maybe..? I knew there was rubble in the bed but it looked like I'd planted them on the old kiln lane brick works. Some of the rootballs were almost entirely orange and had brick chips in the roots. Potted them up, will plant out again in Autumn and that's that mystery solved.

☀️ has finally come out. Will make a brew and go out and admire my hideous aquilegia.

Sun out but very windy , put some more shading in back of g/h , potted up 2 cherry tom tumblers in hanging baskets ready for putting out in due course

Also potted up 2 gherkin , never grow these before

General question , a couple of trays the compost has gone green on the top and wondered if anybody out there knowns why ?image

Hope all well with evertbody image

A few weeks ago I planted/sowed some Beetroot, I say planted/sowed because I bought a strip of ready to plant seeds (by mistakeimage) so just rolled it out and covered it up. One of the many Blackbirds in the garden pulled one strip up, so I sowed some proper seed in it's spot.Once you get out in the garden on a nice sunny bank holiday image you just can't get back in.Did manage the second World Superbike race on tv though.image

  • Good stuff - found a Rosa Banksiae Lutea that I've been looking for, and planted it up on my new pergola, so happy about that.

Bad stuff - spent much of the afternoon cutting off black spot on other roses and treating them. So many things in the garden seem diseased or munched. It's very depressing image

Got rid of a load of daffodil leaves that had finally dried up.  Cut back some brambles and some Ivy that had strayed onto my neighbours wall.  Bought a new obelisk for clematis coming later this week.

Then sat in the garden and read a book.  Lovely.

Hollie Hocks , there must be a reason , did the seeds germinate with the green stuff ?

Wondered if it was light levels ?
