Went mad in the garden yesterday, too stiff today to do anything, even if the weather was decent which it isn't!

Busy - so many babies!   English or French?

French plug plants from https://www.jardinexpress.fr/  I had ordered about 200, but I keep finding 2 plants in each plug so I've been separating them. Should have over 350.

Didn't do any today as went to daughter.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Went outside this morning and, although it was a bit blowy and on/off drizzle, managed to do quite a bit: removed last years' brassicas and runner bean roots and lightly forked over. Then planted shallots (4 groups of 4 a la "square foot" gardening style). Then tidied a bit more of flower beds.

By the time I'd had lunch rain had started properly and it was very windyimage so retreated to the conservatory to continue with seed sowing.

After a long winter hibernation I gave myself a kick up the backside and potted up the plugs I got this week. I also sorted out the seed trays, pots, etc. to start sowing but the weather turned so awful I chickened out of running to the end of the garden to fetch the seed compost I bought a fortnight ago.

I'm sure this time last year I had about 20 trays full of seedlings on the go, I've been so lazy this year but my lawn is mowed and my patio has been jetwashed. Does that count as gardening? image

Thanks Verdun as well, glad I've got a lot of expert gardeners on this forum for my newbie questions image

Very pleased they all made it through just didn't want to stumble at the last block image

  • Blown a hoolie here in Stoke-on-Trent today! Had hail, rain, grotty grey skies, and definitely not gardening weather! Sowed most of my seeds yesterday-just need to get on and pot up my Dahlias.

Started sunny and warm so OH and I have moved pots from winter cover to a sheltered, south facing aspect so I can water, top dress and feed them.   Getting too very windy now and huge clouds flying by so I'm done for the day - apart from plant plans ticking over on simmer while I paint walls and then do patchwork homework while they dry.
