You are very patient Tootles, I think I'd be out there banging people's heads together
Today was lovely, very warm. Had to water some things even and while I was enjoying a Fab lolly noticed my new black centaurea had fainted with a heat injury and had to be revived in the birds water bowl.
Moved two agapanthiii, massive rootballs, was almost too hasty writing them off. Planted some stuff out and potted on some things that can't go in the ground yet.
Got a couple of new arrangements to put together tomorrow, very exciting
I was going to cut my big sage bush hard back today, but it was covered with ladybirds 'getting to know each other' and I didn't want to disturb them - I'll do it another day - however I did take some heeled cuttings - I'll probably replace that big sage next year.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I cut back a couple of grasses and few other dead bits.
Made tea and cake (marmalade Dove) for visitors, admired some butterflies and heard a frog. First frog seen or heard here for years, must be one of the 'rescue frogs' from last year.
No gardening yesterday unless you count taking 8 twisted willows to new homes with ballroom teacher and colleagues. Been cunning too. OH cut our grass far too early and far too short last week - not listening to his boss - so I arranged for maintenance man to collect the mower for servicing. It'll be away for 2 weeks during which time the grass can recover and OH can weed and feed and scarify if he must, but not scalp!
Today I'm on ceiling painting duty first and then we'll be turfing over-wintered pots of hosta, lilies, roses, clematis and so on out into the daylight against a sheltered south facing wall. They'll get top-dressed and fed while the paint dries.
Weather not looking good for tomorrow and worse on Monday so,in a way, it's a good job I have painting to do.
Hosta - looks like satisfying work. Well done.
Busy - so many babies! English or French?
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

No gardening for me today as it's grey and I'm out early this evening
I have a question for Hosta/Verdun, no offense to other upstanding canna growers of course, but how's best to start these off again?
I've potted up and left in cold frame with night time fleece but do they really need a kick of heat to get going in time or is it more slow start =later flowers?
I'd just leave them to it. Mine in the tunnel didn't really stop, I think Verdun's outside were the same.
It's only March after all. If you wanted an earlier start a bit of heat would do it, but I'm not sure it's worth the bother. Once you start with heat, you're kinda stuck with it until the weather warms up.

Thanks for the kind words of support guys. I'll post some more photos as the season goes on.
