Got lots done including planting out a dozen delphinium and 30 annual types (larkspur) which I love. Dotted lots of night scented stocks around the garden. Also repotted a couple of azaleas which have just finished flowering. Couldn't believe how many willowherbs I kept finding while weeding!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
Ok, six weeks with a broken foot and I saw nothing of my garden. Today I was greeted by a two foot high sea of weeds. I managed to chop the first two square yards down... not a lot but the max I could do on my first day back
hi garden Viking just take your time don't over do it when I slipped in kitchen on water and put my back out waited almost a year all I did was weed kill and months after I had opp still tall weeds strimmed it sprayed again 3weeks later tidy up (SO DONT OVER DO IT ) SLOW AND EASY TAKE CARE Michael
Thank you Michael, I am afraid you're right. I am going to take my new husband up on his promise to help me! It might kill more plants than the weeds do, but we'll see...
No gardening here, as I've been working on a styled shoot for a florist, but I HAVE been shooting in the local manor house gardens, just a couple of minutes' walk up the road from me.. Lucky me - absolutely stunning established gardens, both the florist and I have been drooling over all the plants!
I wasn't envious about watching the gardeners who were tending the gardens there today though, absolutely dripping with sweat.
Finished off my shoot in their beautiful wildflower meadow... an absolute sea of buttercups as far as the eye could see. Just beautiful
Victoria Sponge here is the pic of my Bridge of Sighs rose. it was only planted this year but is getting bigger by the day. Unlike the other roses it has no greenfly on. It's strong and healthy. I'm looking forward to it climbing on the tension wires we've put in. It was covered in even more roses yesterday but they were going over so I deadheaded quite drastically :-)
Lou, that's a beautiful rose, I love the shape of the petals and the stamens being on view. Does it have a good scent ? Also how prickly are the stems? I'm thinking it might fit into my front garden I love the colour.
Have planted up all my pots now. Just need to plant annuals in the tulip gaps in the beds then any left over plants will go to the plant sale at my Strawberry Tea.
Ate our first broad beans tonight.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I'll post a pic Victoria once the camera is charged :-) I planted it this year and it is only three feet high but wonderful flowers.
My garden usually flowers quite late as it is shady but this rose is doing really well. I'm hoping it will climb well next year.

Planting out pot marigolds and some shorter ones in the front of them

Lilysilly, Lou said it has a nice honey scent.
