my theory for this  year is to grow stuff I can plant in the garden, not just sow seeds because I have them.

    Devon.

Managed to clear one raised veg bed of mint image, tipped out compost bin, sieved and put the good stuff on the borders and the rough stuff back in the compost bin.

Hoping to reshape my flower borders this week if the weather allows

More seeds sown (have to wait in the midlands as winters are colder than nearer the coast) but did some preparing of the veg plot and had a little helper following me around all day:

We have 'discovered' a fab GC near to us where plants  - although some a little battered - just need  a bit of TLC and are a fraction of the cost.

I bought 6 Goldcrest shrubs that each stood about 3ft...a mere £1 each! Plus a whole load of other trees, shrubs and plants (filled a trailer full) and came away with change from £50.

Have spent the weekend planting and moving (just warming through from the pouring Norfolk rain) and I am now telling OH how much I 'need' a fab 12ft golden Alder for the princely sum of £15!!!!

What a lovely little helper Bob. I'd love to get one to eat from my hand. My grandad used to have one that sat on his shoulder. We get lots here and they do come very close.

sounds like a good few bargains Suz3. Nice one!

ive got the radio on in the greenhouse and am sowing lots of seeds. Sun is starting to break through. It's lovely. Soon heats up in there.

Haven't ventured out yet.... crazy weather here in south Cambs. Been reading up on benefits of mulching and fish blood and bone etc  in preparation of big gardening session next wkend.

I desperately need shrubs/trees ie 'height' as have new fencing down both sides of garden.

Also have wildlife pond in its second year and still no sign of wildlife other than as blackbird bathIng area image  how do i get the frogs!

Pretty wild in North  Cambs as well. I haven't even taken last night's veg peelings to the compost heap yet. I did fill the bird feeders thoughimage

There's a stick (poplar) standing upright, impaled in our lawn. I didn't fancy one impaled in my head. Calming a little now and will probably venture forth, at least for a look if not for working

    In the sticks near Peterborough

Happy to garden in all weathers but not wind... I've created shopping list for local garden centre as long as my arm.... What was it Monty said about how much we all spend at garden centres?  List includes mealworms for my little Robin... He's all but pulling up a chair....hops onto garden table as I sit with morning coffee.

Trees.. plum and pear I think as already have apple. Can't wait to get out there. image
