I would put antihistamine cream on the bites. But if you get something nastier, like a bee sting you can take tablets. I get hay fever when the pollen count is high and I take Boots "one a day" allergy relief, which is a mild antihistamine.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I had a potter around Wyevale at their 50% off deals, nothing caught my eye, so I went over to one of the local nurseries and used a reward voucher to get this:
I've found a lovely spot for it in a flower bed at the front of the house.
The dreaded bindweed has returned. We haven't had it for a couple of years-rather helpfully our phone line died and they had to dig part of the garden up to lay a new one, in the process they also dug the bindweed up! It's got long enough to wind up a cane and put weedkiller on, so that got attacked today in the hope it stays dry long enough for the weedkiller to take effect.
Other than that I've collected some poppy seed heads, done a tiny bit of deadheading and sown some clematis macropetala seeds that have come off the plant.
Thanks for the tip Verdun, so simple! It's had a good 5 hours without rain now, will try and get a plastic bottle over it though, I want it gone! I'm a little annoyed, the only reason it is back in our garden is because our next door neighbours have let the adjoining border go wild by not bothering to do any gardening. We are constantly pulling weeds out that have come from there. They rent the house, and I don't think they care. The previous owner would be turning in her grave if she could see what has become of her beautiful gardens
It rained quite heavily last night so when I went outside with my cuppa this morning a sunflower in pot was lying on ground (8 footer). I feared the worst... decapitation or severed stem but was grateful to find it in tact - hurray! My large (aka overgrown) Lavenders were a bit horizontal as well but they soon bounce back as they dry out. Hoping to do some garden 'house-keeping' tomorrow if it's fine as day off work.

Perhaps people can conduct their own experiments...
Maybe he's gone to bed

Thanks aym, even better with the voucher as it took £5 off! It's a shame that your seedlings died.
I've stuck a plastic bottle over the bindweed and that's all the gardening I've done since my last post!
