Lovely day here so cut down big dead tree number...can't remember. Now I have a load of logs to deal with. Rain forecast for tomorrow so I'll just have to get wet. They can't lie there! The tree was about 35ft high so I have a 35ft conga of logs down onto the grass. And of course all the branches and twigs that go with. Marvellous!
Aym , sorry to tell you but have really good soil , the house is about 26 years ago , we bought it from new and was built on a field next to the old diary in the Village , where the cows would wait to be milked
I do remember at the last garden buying old bags of cheap compost and dare I say it bales of peat !
I now use peat free compost or what I make at the allotment , to atone for my pervious sins
None today. It's now raining anyway and I have started with a cold and sore throat and I am feeling sorry for myself. There are 3 x 125l bags of peat free compost in my car waiting to go onto the soil to give it more oomph! It's very sandy here.
I need to get OH to get the bags out of the and move them to where I need them.
I also want the bumble bees to depart the nest in my dorment compost heap so I can use it.
Are the nerines not coming up at all? I have lots of bulbs very few of which seem to flower. I think the depth you plant them at is very important but I am not sure what it is without looking.
The leaves usually come up first but my Nerines don't put up any flower shoots until about October.
Raining at the moment so not venturing out until it clears. Planted up some dwarf asters grown from seed into a trough. I have some forget me nots that need potting on. Does anyone know the best time to plant these out? I started them in April on the windowsil. They will be going out into containers as I don't have a garden, just a yard with wall baskets and containers.

Aym , this year I have tried Asdas compost 3 x 70 litre bags for £10 and found it excellent
Usually use Leverngtons but went I bought a bag at start of year not very impressed
I do sieve compost for seeds
Aym , I use vermiculite and perlite as well , got some really cheap from Aldi beging of the year
Livngtons , never found any human remains in it but always a first
