I did weeding, weeding and weeding. I have a bed (I use the term loosely) at the bottom of a sloping lawn and the lawn is gradualy sliding into it. How can I make it go faster and stay flat as it goes? The bed has some ancient mallows on their last legs and nothing much else bar buttercups and dandelions.
Well, I planted out my new roses (worried someone might pinch them if I leave them in their pots!) and i got well and truly soaked through. About to go outside now and give the other roses a feed.
Verdun, it was really good value (assuming they thrive!). I got a delphinium magic fountain, anenome silvestris, 2 x aquilegia spring magic whites, and 2 x gaura siskiyou pink. I would be rehoming them in the garden right now if it wasn't so darned rainy
I went out to 'do' the vegetable patch - unfortunately got distracted with the nearby flowerbed. That looks lovely now but the veg patch is definitely a task for tomorrow. I might try and hire a rotavator for it it looks that bad. So time consuming and I end up with a bare patch of soil, not very motivating. I have got stuff that needs to go in it so I really must knuckle down and do it.
I'm having a little glass of rose wine in the garden now before I go and tidy up my mess.

Like cleaning the inside of cupboards DD. Everything out, almighty mess, lots of stretching into corners and swearing....waiting.....all back in and nothing has happened! Hate that!

No gardening today apart from giving recently planted hellebores a good soak.
Spent a pleasant 2 hours in friend's garden for my respite time

Verdun, do you grow the gauras on in pots as they come on better, or just because they aren't 'needed' in the beds until later in the season?
Been volunteer gardening at Clayton hall . Sunny warm morning . Drizzle now .
That sounds like a nice day Archie.
