Spent 2 hours outside today just trying to turn over a heavy clay, wet soil that has already had tons of manure and compost fish and bone in November last year to help it, but I almost walked away crying because of the state its in and wonder if I'm ever going to get planted in there, this year. This weather is Unreal.
What an industrious lot you all are. Garden cleanup continues, compost heap is 140 degrees, neighbors gave me two wheelbarrows of spruce duff to add.
Cleaned up pelargoniums which this year I just left in their pots in unheated but frost free back room. My roommate left them dry for 4 mos. and they look great.
Have had a splendid day, clouds were thin enough for some sun to come through, might have even got to double figures, very pleasant.
I moved some plants around in the border under my kitchen window and did a bit of planning elsewhere. Had a patrol about and happy to see the blackthorn flowers are just starting to open and there are leaf buds on most shrubs. Cut back the crocosmia tufts and moved some weeds to more suitable places, some daisies, garlic mustard and what I hope was a ragwort and not some ugly veg weed as it's got prime position in front of my stump arrangement. It probably is ragwort as it looks distinctly unhappy now moved
Saw a fat frog today, think it's been living in a stone tunnel I made and noticed my precious chimney bees were out and about Hope they'll be okay and are not out too early...
Had a busy afternoon putting up a trellis to grow my new clematis up, dug up and replanted some congested daffs and had general tidy up round the garden. Also helped a bumblebee out by giving it some sugar solution as it had been slowing moving about on our drive way. It had a good old drink and wandered off in the direction of crocuses!

I fed the birds and had a coffee. Horrible day up here today.
Underplanting in glorious sunshine
Did some pruning and sorted bird feeders out.

Pruning roses, refastening climbing roses, admiring Cecile Brunner.
Crocus all in full fig, first tulips open, scillas and pushkinias starting, daffodils super, this is the best time of year.
Clarice673 , my last garden was clay and I use to buy cheap compost and grit and dig it in and it worked for me , but depends on how clayee it is
best of luck
