I sowed a few flower seed yesterday and day before for cutting patch, antirrhinums, Ammi V, aster, larkspur and ageratum timeless mix

Gone with 5 types of sunflower 3 of each in loo roll middle tubes and yogurt pots one a perennial one, few mixed colour ones, giant ones that is 15 seeds

Sarah Raven said in Garden News mag to pinch them out when they get to 30 cms big which means they don't grow vastly tall but are bushy and more flower productive

Beaus Mum I saw council displays last year with sunflowers in part of the beds looked good

Beau you mean you are going to the SM for your sunflowersimageimage

I'm OK - just fed up about larkspurs - took over a month to get them to germinate - set myself a deadline for full flower end of July so quite a delay I think.

I don't know, novice here with guess work. Larkspurs were mainly for confetti making.

    Case of watch this space.

Well done GG have been recommended to grow ageratum but not sure about it so am not. Look forward to seeing your results with them.

I have young sweet peas,  ammi, cosmos and dahlias all growing away now. No luck with scabious though, the seeds just go grey and furry for some reason. Going for 3rd time lucky for those, fingers crossed.

Going to sow some larkspur, sunflowers and more cosmos indoors this week. Not quite ready for zinnia, cornflowers, nigella or asters yet. I think the soil needs to be a bit warmer yet.

Lidl have got bags of 75 gladioli corms for a fiver. Bargain. I had some last year, lined them up in between the rows of broad beans, useful for cutting for the house.

Emptied out my flower bed today and dug over and added new compost ready for it to be a cut flower bed, will put a few plants back in that are good for cutting and others will be moved else where - not many plants to be moved all in pots for now till I know where to put them

Matty2 next weeks Garden News mag is going to have an article on grow your own wedding flowers thought that might be interesting for you to read

Fidgetbones that is a great offer but not enough room in garden for that many until I get an allotment plot and also part shade in the veg garden

Thank you for that GG. I buy it sometimes so will make a point of getting it. Which day does it come out? Do you know?

Quite like the idea of glads for cutting but not sure I have enough room for that many. Will have a thunk, thanks

I quite liked gladioli At first but I've gone off them, they look too frilly and frumpy for me I think. Either that or funeral-ly. I'm not sure if mine which I lifted for winter will regrow, not bothered if they don't to be honest.
