    Hello

Back after a lovely weekend to find the 2nd lot of larkspurs are germinating. Fingers crossed i can keep them on the rest of their growing journey

Am busy hardening everything off which means last night - after visitors- I was in the garden with torch carrying the trays back to the GH. Pleased I did though as temps were down to about 2*

On Friday I had a clutch (5) seedlings from Sarah Raven on Salvia viridis 'blue'- an after thought as I realised I wasn't growing any blue - good strong root systems

  • Anyone grown Ameranthus from seed? Just noticed mine might have germinated imagecor blimey their smallimage  looks like a hairpin job again and they will have to put a spurt on to come to anything this year.

I grew them last year and a different variety this year- they do look pathetic don't they but once they are potted in to a bigger pot take off, then into garden and wow!- my daughter was very taken with them for her wedding bouquet - long and unusual tassels - think i put her off, but growing some this year just to make sureimage

    Should look good Matty.

My flower seedlings are bigger than they were a week ago when we left, but still pretty small.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I have bouquet lilies coming up in a line for cutting. Even though they are only 2inch tall I,can see flower buds. The slugs are after them . I have sprinkled crushed eggshells around them.

Purple pom pom alliums that I lined out to grow on from offsets, are budding up well. I can see at least 20 flowers forming.

Six weeks on from sowing and most of my plants are coming on nicely.  The larger ones I put out last week in my new plastic greenhouse (pressie from teenage daughters) are looking really healthy but the smaller seedlings I left in the conservatory are still a bit weedy so decided to move them out this morning.

I have some shrivelled brown lumps too Beaus Mum but luckily not all, I couldn't bring myself to bin the leftovers after pricking out the biggest seedlings into single cells so I potted them into spare plant pots and they're still ok.

Kitty 2 all your seedlings look brilliant

Matty2  great pic,  I did have the Larkspur seeds in the freezer for a week then sowed them this Friday - I will see if it does well they are in my room in an half tray at min if they grow they will go into the plastic greenhouse, the ones I sowed a while back still not doing anything but other seeds in tray have grown ok

I planted lots of bits into my ground bed for cutting still a bit of room left

GG just put your seed tray outside - that's what I did and mine have germinated.

Love all your seedlings Kittty - what a great present from your family image

Planted out 3 Amaranthus today in a square with 6 Orlaya - just hope i've hardened them off enough after todays weather forecast
