I've taken the chance and put my zinnias out. they've been out all week and despite the cold nights, they are looking good and healthy. It's been a bit warmer here in Suffolk today, well Norfolk too as that's where I work.
I think I'm a bit behind! Better harden off the cosmos this weekend then. How big are folks zinnias? Maybe mine might do a bit better in a cold frame rather than the greenhouse. I've clearly not got the hang of them!
Better put my sweet peas out too. They are doing well, and have had a couple of small vases full so far. Hope they don't resist being put out outside!
My cosmos are 6inch tall,in 3inch individual pots. I will put them in 5inch pots for another couple of weeks. I dont plant out anything half hardy until June.
Tootles sorry for such a late reply, I am now down to 7 one of them has all wilted and gone weird I don't know why I have been water every other day as they are in a conservatry window sill, they are now in my growhouse hardening off waiting to go out side! One of them is like verigated it's all gone a bit deformed too, mine much be about 9 maybe 10 inches now! They have come on so fast my sunflowers have gone bananas they must also be about a foot tall my now! I have done well even though I had sown them so late!
Maybe zinnias are tricky then, or it's just a funny year for them. Mine don't look good at all. sounds like it'll be a good year for sunflowers though!
Ive started putting plants in one of the raised beds. Three echinops ritro grown from seed, two echinops veitchs blue grown from plugs from Sarah raven, and three didiscus from seed. Very excited!
Quite a lot more still in the greenhouse, and hardening off in the cold frame.
Tootled defo roll on next weekend! Bank holiday weekend! I have put my garden centre plants in my grow house to harden off and my sunflowers and zinnias my sunflowers are massive now can't believe how much they have grown since I have potted them on two weeks ago! They must be about a foot tall by now!
have planted a few more outside and they look to be doing ok. Have decided to put the dahlias in their own bed as they can be a bit thuggish. Few more to go in today. Exciting times!
Chives looking happy. They last ages in a vase too.
Fidget just caught up on your post - what about rudbeckia - the annual ones.
This year I am growing Cherokee(double) Cherry Brandy (deep red) and a mixed seed packet. They flower from August on and last year were still magnificent on late October.
I will post if i remember at the right time. Also very easy to grow from seed
