Ginagibbs , have your allotment people thought about approaching local stables for free horse manure ? Or even your self ?image

  • Hi GWRS, I exercise a friends horse twice a week and make sure I go home with a car boot load of manure (in bags of course !!!) It certainly helps break up the clay soilimage

  • Hi GWRS

i grow Kohl rabi, its very easy they seem to just get on with growing without too much fuss, just a bit of mulch to start them off and net to keep the birds off.

I like it grated in a saladimage

    Hi Gardengirl

This is the first time I've tried to add a photo. The red thing to one side is my gardening glove to give an idea of the size of my pumpkin. This is my first attempt at growing them, and I am quite pleased.

  • That looks amazing Suburbshrub it is big, will you make soup with it?

  • Thanks GG,It is going to my local pub for their Hallowe'en night, but I think they will make soup with it. I have a smaller one  as well that I am going to make soup with,or I might try  pumpkin pie.

I do like the way that you have made your raised bed to fit into an unusual shaped space.
