Hi GWRS, I exercise a friends horse twice a week and make sure I go home with a car boot load of manure (in bags of course !!!) It certainly helps break up the clay soil
going to spend tommrow at the allotment , will take some pictures
Put some Kohl rabi seeds in but none germinated , spotted some plants in a garden centre yesterday so will put them in , never grown them before , any tips out there ?
i grow Kohl rabi, its very easy they seem to just get on with growing without too much fuss, just a bit of mulch to start them off and net to keep the birds off.
This is the first time I've tried to add a photo. The red thing to one side is my gardening glove to give an idea of the size of my pumpkin. This is my first attempt at growing them, and I am quite pleased.
Thanks GG,It is going to my local pub for their Hallowe'en night, but I think they will make soup with it. I have a smaller one as well that I am going to make soup with,or I might try pumpkin pie.
I do like the way that you have made your raised bed to fit into an unusual shaped space.

Ginagibbs , have your allotment people thought about approaching local stables for free horse manure ? Or even your self ?
