  • I've been to my original plot today and dug over one bed and half of another one image while I was there, I was chatting to my allotment neighbour and it turns out that my leaky shed is leaking into hers now so I rang the council while I was there and they are supposed to be calling me back to arrange what happens next.

Weirdly, the site rep was there too, and there was a lot of whispering between them. It was quite uncomfortable image

My other allotment neighbour has been given another month to sort her plot out. im torn between her pulling her finger out and leaving it- I want her to leave it because I dont want to share my leaky shed, and I want her to sort it out because it looks bad, but hers looking bad makes mine look better lol

  • Eeekk Fruitcake, I hate it when there's an "atmosphere"! Hope it sorts itself out.

  • Fruitcake was the whispering between your neighbour and site rep?    but were they looking your way it could of been about something else

Well done on your digging, how many beds do you have to dig over?

  • No, they weren't looking my way but it was still odd. It just made me feel uncomfortable.

I have three complete beds left to get dug over but they're not big ones. I still have to dig holes for 4 small trees and a couple more fruit bushes on soil that I haven't touched since I took it on, but the ground is still far too wet to do anything with.

The second plot hasnt been dug over at all since we took it on, but I am gonna have to wait until it's dried out a bit more, its like quicksand image

Hello all. had a few days in Paris the benefit of Dover, ferries and euro tunnel both handy.Brought back a bottle or two of Bordeaux mixture not for the potato's.               Welcome StagB looks like a good site, with your little helpers you could have it sorted in no timeimage. Forester2 what an amazing plot and without a shed ,if I can get mine half as good I'll be very happy. Large car park at the top of my plot .My plot's only a ten minute walk away. Five on the way back it's all down hill. Woo2  Dover, never grown a thing in my life YET  image

  • Roy what you going to start off first?

Fruitcake, you've certainly grown quite a variety of veggies etc image..... Think I ponder too much about what to grow, where and how....should just get on with it lol and learn from my mistakes!  Did your shed come with your allotment? Is it the property of the council, do they have to repair/ replace?  Hope things get sorted with your plot neighbour.

Gardengirl, hopefully you'll soon have a plot. I wonder as a new gardening year approaches maybe some will become available, as people decide they haven't the time to continue with their allotment.....wishful thinking for you!

Hi RG, glad I'm not the only novice! I have grown a few bits and pieces in the last couple of years but a bit hit and miss....I don't have an allotment as such but a separate garden area that we are turning over to a veggie garden. We've spent a long time clearing it all so this year will be, hopefully, a bit more structured growing wise! Oh and I live North Bristol/ South Glos

  • Woo2 I am still a novice on some veg as some not done well either it is a hit and miss thing I think, thanks for the wishful thinking

GWRS a rod is 25 square metres so that will make it 5x 25, great buy with the compost

  • Morning All

Lovely sunny albeit a cold day.

Gardengirl My saw is a Erbauer the only downside it a bit heavy for me but as I'm only going to be using it occasionally and for short periods its ok.

Woo2- I've had the plot almost 2 yrs so only really been growing veg/fruit since then. I grew up in Kent went to London-trained worked and lived there until motherhood and moved to Surrey.

Fruitcake its horrid when there is an 'atmosphere' hope it disappears soon, it reminded me of work! ignore and rise above it is my motto.
