  • Been to the allotment plot today for a bit more digging well got really wet so gave up after an hour and a bit, got a small bit done the soil in some bits very slippery and slimy - could really do with a big shelter over the top

Ended up going to B&Q for another tarpaulin think the fence pallets in the middle of plot need some more covering up

End of yesterday digging found a big bit of netting under ground got that all out and a bit of hose - still more to get out as kept breaking

Gardengirl , it is amazing what you find and can't understand why they put it there in the first place !

saw some pictures when first got plot can't believe the difference , you will be the same when you look back , that hard work will pay dividends in the future image

  • Went to the allotment on Monday with my boys and the lovely lady who gave me the strawberry plants had given us some more, so planted those. The onions have started to sprout.

Was hoping to go tomorrow to the allotment but the weather doesn't look nice so will go on sun and do some weeding.

Well done Ginagibbs on your prize image

  • Went got some free wood yesterday some post and long planks got wet doing that, took it to the plot later and got soaked all wood put inside fence pallets and then covered with my new tarpaulin, the ground is so soggy there all this rain not helping

GWRS plot does look different amazing less growth of brambles now and just with lots of cardboard on,  still feel like lots to do and bit behind where I wanted to be   - nice lot of worms when been digging it which is a good sign even find meal worms

Stagbeetle I looked at the weather meant to be really strong winds Saturday and Monday   - what a nice lady giving you more strawberries

Going to go buy plants today for station and maybe a few for garden

Today went and got some free wood as add on Gumtree near by some 4x4 fence posts that they sawed in half for us  from the people that do skips Ace Liftaway - they said loads of stuff gets chucked away all sorts - but then we who dive in skips know that........right

Took the wood to the allotment and as so so windy my pop up plant protector was flat on floor so now in garage and the tarpaulin blowing about all over the place so some of the pallets are now wet for the shed we covered them back over as much as possible

what is the weather like where you are?

We had rain nearly every day last week and more forecast for next week so haven't been able to do anything on the plot. I have taken 4 bags of leaves though and plan to collect more.

Hello , just got back from staying with friends in Darlington , weather no to bad but wet

Amazes me what I see in skips , often thought a community area that people could help themselves would be useful

probably next weekend before I can get up to allottment image

  • I've wanted to go to the allotment all this week but due to the weather, I've not been able to go but today I went and did about an hour and dug another bed, it was hard going due to the amount of couch grass.

I keep eyeing up the plot next to me, I know I shouldn't because of trying to get on top of my own one but it would be great to have one veg plot and one flower/wildlife plot.
  • Got to allotment plot today done some digging quite a bit done even though the weather started spitting and wind picked up, same as you Stagbeetle lots of couch grass

The neighbour behind my plot is given up moving house far away and they have said I am allowed the apple tree on the plot only smallish and anything else she does not want -  so I dug up the apple tree today and planted in a spot for now also got the fire bin

Stagbeetle that does sound a good idea  How big is the plot?  is it looking a mess

  • Grab it while you can Stagbeetle, I am still lusting after my neighbour's plot but looks like they are all here for the long haul, still you never know. Not much going on, I have planted my onions and they are all sprouting nicely, planted some leeks from the garden centre, still harvesting spinach, chard and Kale for soup etc. Autumn raspberries  are still producing. Cleared away a few marigolds and cosmos that I had growing so its not looking as colour full now.

Good for you with the apple tree Garden girl, give it a good feed of manure to help it along.image
