    Happy New Year everyoneimage

Hope you all enjoyed the festive season, we have been, and still are suffering with the cold virus that is going around so not a lot happening here gardening wise.

Like many of you, I'm hoping to put pen to paper this weekend and plan what I hope to grow where this year then it will be a case of ordering my seeds etc.. I'm also looking forward to watching The Allotment Challenge tomorrow.

We are hoping to purchase a new greenhouse this year which will be located in a different area of the garden to the old current greenhouse so we need to get a base in pretty soon.

Hope you all enjoy your day today!

Looks like you've all been busy unlike me who had an invasion of nasty germs that decided to squat in my lungs for weeks! All better now, anyone else under the weather hope you feel better soon.

Got heaps to do at the plot although I do have all my seeds and am looking forward to getting potatoes. Got some from our lottie shop last yr will buy again although am tempted by the TM offer. Not very good with planning as naturally an impulsive person but will put plans in my head in my lovely gardening note book.

My new grow more mag arrived with a free book by John Harrison 'veg growing' so much to read!

Popped to around to see the plot yesterday and was pleased to see broad beans garlic onions growing nicely and rhubarb with tiny-tiny leaves.

    Have a fab day.

I have been up to the new plot today image we burned some old wood that's been waiting for burning for about a month, and did some very dodgy measuring for the chicken run- dodgy because I'd left the tape measure on the stairs with the rope so we had to use a 6ft cane lol. Turns out that it's not going to take up as much space as we thought so I need to rejig the growing plan somewhat image

I had a disaster last year with my plastic greenhouse Roy...it had loads of new, tender plants in it and they were scattered all over the decking after a very windy night! image

It was weighted down with large stones but obviously not enough! Will try again this year ( said with fingers crossed) !

Went to the allotment today. Picked some veg, last of the leeks and celriac. Feeling a tab bit sore now, dug up at least 6 old fruit bushes on the new plot and loads of rasberry canes.

Fruitcake - 1st earlies are ready to harvest after 10wks, 2nd earlies 13wks and main crop 15-20 wks. 1st and 2nd earlies can be left in longer, I dig up as needed and didn't do main crop last yr on account of blight, we get a lot of alerts here in the NW and did get blight on the allotment fortunatley I'd planted slightly early and my spuds had all flowered when it hit.

A bed of 1st and 2nd earlies can be harvested by July/August time, ready for winter veg, which can be started off in modules a few weeks beforeimage.

Roy - I'm hoping, nailing plastic to the bottom of pallet fencing will prolong it's life and was going to cover the pallet edging the same. It won't last for ever but if it gets through a couple of yrs I'll be happy.

I've found fennel bulb hard to grow, ever hopefully, will try again, me thinks they need a long growing season, with lots of sun and water.

Can't wait to start sowing seeds and planting, I've seen some pea's at the GC which can be sown in February imageimage
