Went to the plot yesterday. I'm going to run out of room to plant things up so lifted the black plastic from a large section where the fruit tree's are and have divided it up into four sections. Planted out more sweet corn.

Lots of seedlings now at home ready to be potted up, beetroot, chard, spinach, sunflowers, some lettuce and celeriac finally germinated, all still to small to plant out though.

Brussels, pea's and beans are all beginning to grow on the plotimage

Good idea to have a nursery bed Gg.

    Been to the allotment

Collected lots of bark chipping today for under a seating area  all bagged up one the plot - ,just need to finish digging a few metres and get the weed matting down

Thanks Zoomer44, I went down one side of the plot to make an area so no where near the seating and shed area if not I would have to wait even longer to get them going

Gg. Sounds good. All my seedlings are still in tray's, modules or pots but have given some brussel's and broccoli plants to new plot holders after planting out what was needed.

Someone kindly left a tray of leeks at the top of the plot the other dayimage.

Still digging up my onions and drying them off. Will get leeks in next, they are getting big enough. Dont have many seedlings in trays on the go,  trying to direct sow instead.

Nice to share out excess plants Zoomer, I have given a few trays of plants away, its so easy to over do the seedlings! Some stuff you can eat as micro greens too though.

Saw a skip full of cotswold stone paving slabs, so will grab some tonight.image

Ginagibbs , Cotswold stone slabs sounds like a great find

Somebody on the A gave us some surplus beetroot as our first lot of seeds didn't germinate ,

We keep giving rhubarb away as it is like a forest still

spent weekend at allottment , everything looking good on target with digging  , even picket some broad beans

never watered so much , it is the wind which is drying everything image

Went to the allotment got another 5 bags of bark chipping, managed to dig a small bit on the temporary (trial) bed

Others were having bonfires on their plots and the wind kept the smell blowing our way think my hair smells a bit -  as it is rather windy today

Ginagibbs I been nosing every time I find a skip - not much luck with finding anything in them

Zoomer44 great someone left you leeks very helpful

GWRS things in garden have been needing lots of water so I have been watering a lot which means lots of walking up and down with a few watering cans - can't be asked to sort the hose out

We have 3 water cubes on A , slight problem with tap on one , filled 2 up on Sunday , cost us £3 each and they hold 1000 litres each , water butts from sheds now empty , it is nice to have sun shine but it would be helpful if it rains at night

At home greenhouse water butt nearly empty , never have problem with water as stream at side of garden and never run dry in living memory , have built steps down to it a long time a go , is very useful at times

    happy allotmenteering everybody image

Our water butts are empty to at home. My garden is clay so at the moment it's like concrete and very difficult to dig. Rain on Friday so they say so things might be more easier. Allotment is going well we are very busy trying to keep the weeds at bay. I haven't got my leeks in yet not quite big enough. Everything else is going well so far. Surrounded Tomatoes with fleece again this year to keep blight away. It worked last year we were so thrilled to have a good crop for the first time.

Hi all, had a lovely afternoon at my plot in the sunshine, starting to get a bit of a holiday tan, people keep asking if I have been away somewhere exotic!!imageimage

Dug up the last of my onions and am drying them on racks. Got my leeks planted and sowed some more beans. Still have a few more tomato plants to re pot. Given up on the aubergines, although the peppers are doing well. Did a lot of watering too, We have water taps and can fill our water butts if they get dry, hope it rains soon though, nothing beats a good rainfall.

Have'nt  got round to getting the paving slabs from the skip yet, I am using the work van tonight so will use that to transport themimage

Spent a couple of hours on the plot. I'm pleased with most things, lost a few plants due to late frosts and something is eating the leaves on the brocolli - leaving tiny holes, any idea's,they are black and jump when you try to squash them?

Spuds are through, gooseberry's almost ready to pick, although I think there'll only be one bowl full as it's a new bush. Strawberries in flower. Couple more months before shallots and onions will be ready.

Spent about an hour making a frame and netting the brussels, feeling pleased with myself, set about making another one for the broccoli and then noticed a cabbage white under the netting and trying to settle on the sproutsimage, why do we bother...
