Would love my own chooks but not enough space. I feed next doors chickens all my veg scraps, and slugs and snails. They start chatting when they see me come!image

Went to our Allotment this morning. Managed to do a couple of hours before the rains came. So pleased to see the rain as my poor arms hurt o much carrying cans up and down the plot. Turnips are coming along fine broad beans are still flowering tho'. Garlic not quite ready but won't be long onions are really good this year so pleased as last year complete failure. Cabbage French beans and runners are doing nicely. Fruit trees are loaded but have a prob with gooseberrie are covered in mould. Has anyone have advice on this I would be grateful.

Lucky you GG, I'm at work today, and the dog I am dog sitting is being collected at 6pm, I will get there tonight for a little while. I long for a full day spent on my plot!

I have been to both plots this morning, did some weeding at chickenville and pulled up the last of the radishes. Then off to the other plot to bring home one strawberry, a bag full of broad beans and rhubarb image

I also went round the first earlies and pulled up one potato from about half the plants. I put the earth straight back where it came from and nothing else was disturbed. Tomorrow's dinner is gonna be amazing!

Did i do any harm in taking one potato from the plants?

Ginagibbs sure you will get to your plot sometime soon

Fruitcake sure it won't harm the potato plant, a strawberry great I was looking at the plot beside mine and they had about 1 or 2 red strawberries look so good

Well spent a long long time at today at allotment plot took some food and had a small picnic, digging grass was tough to get though to clear to get to the soil to start to digging and there were big bramble roots

Found lot of old crisp packets and a can of beer then found a large piece of metal under the grass and a large metal nail and bolt - lucky we know the site rep said they will be getting a skip some time as in part of the car park there is a car bumper and stuff in a pile - and we are allowed to add our stuff to it

Well we managed to do a metre one way and a metre and a half the other that is the start of the next row along - hand has got a bit of a blister forgot padded/ thick gloves and ache a bit resting now

Got a offer from next door plot to help as they have a cordless strimmer as all weeds have grown really tall - think I am cultivating weeds on my plot

So we will see who can strim the plot first NDN or the other man who is getting a strimmer from the council

Fruitcake no harm to potatoe plant , a couple of fiends who grow them in bags , often take some out and leave the rest growing

been up to A this morning planted 3 squash and 3 pumpkin , never grown the later before , also did a bit of digging

o/h in week planted leeks and weeded onions

After lunch cut lawns and a bit of dead heading , just having a beer waiting for dinner

hope you are all well , Gardengirl your digging grass sounds like really hard work but hopefully worth while , if we go for the day we take food as well , in the summer we sometimes take a disposable barbecue image
