It is a good time of year to pick up garden sale stuff as the big stores have a clear out , last year got a new fork and spade from Asda , picked up a few very cheap bits from wilco today

there is always Sunday car boot salesimage

We've done pretty much everything on the cheapimage

the only things we've picked up new are the azadas, tunnel nets and debris netting. Everything else has been cheap, extra cheap or free image

Thanks all even though a long way off yet - it is nice finding out information from you all - council run this allotment

I guess none of you have looked at a plot and not been keen on it or liked it - I guess if that happens you go to the end of the list

A new allotment Fruitcake AND chooks....how exciting! I wouldn't be without 'my girls', not just for the eggs, they give me so much pleasure. I think the neighbours must think I'm mad as I chat away to them whilst gardening, even Maisie (the dog ) gets jealous of the attention they get image

Hope your visit goes well today Fruitcake and hopefully the weather will be drier so we can all get some gardening done, enjoy everyone!

We must have been lucky because we did have the choice of 2 but we decied against one as it was full of horsetail and huge tractor tires , interestingly several people have started on that plot and given up

The person on there now is finally making a go of it

The owner of the land a local farmer arranged for the disposal of the tractor tyres image

I'm sure I posted on here earlier image

visit didn't happen today. We made up for it by sorting out the sweetcorn, chillies and peppers in the garden and greenhouse then went to my allotment and put some manure down on a couple of the beds, took the tops off the blighted potatoes then decided to harvest the potatoes too as I'm putting my broad beans in that bed now. Pulled up the rest of the carrots too.

now to work out what to do with all the stuff from the garden today lol

Fruitcake when are you going to see the plot again?

I expect loads of people try start on plots either do things too much at once or get put off and give up even though they want a plot

A pic, or two or three for you, depending on if I can get photobucket working properly

Please bear with me, I have two more pics but photobucket is being a big fat pain in the bottom and keeps freezing. The green tree icon on posts is useless so it's gonna take me a while image

Thats all all the pics I've got the patience to post! I had to switch my iPad off three times    as you look up the plot from the shed, the covered bit is on the left and the other on the right. The third pic is what we thought was just raspberries but we found gooseberries in there too image

Fruitcake - looks like you've been lucky and got a good site, on flat ground too. The patio table is a real bonus.

It's an Aldin's cave with compost bins, gooseberry bushes and...black plastic...it's good to cover ground over after being dug until ready for planting - stops the weeds from growing image.
