Salino it is nice to just have a wonder around,   that is what I at the allotments here when the shop is open so the gates are open then and have a look what others are growing and what grows well and just to be nosy

Would recommend something called "companion planting " , you can look up what likes to planted next to one another and what doesn't

I have found it really useful for example I grow carrots with garlic and onions and unlike my neighbours , so far I have Not got carrot fly

    best of luck image

...I enjoyed watching that film.. beautifully done.. what struck me though - comparing it to where I may be going... is that most of those plots were in use...it's vibrant and active - a community all of itself.... that's not the case here... most of the plots are vacant and overgrown...very little interest or take up... in some aspects I don't mind that.. hardly anyone will notice what mistakes I make... on the other hand...might be quite a lonely place to be at times...   we shall see..

Be nice and peace full,  you will have all the wildlife with you

Maybe if you start others will come

..that would be nice I think Gardengirl... something I shall have to be satisfied about, is that they have no intention of selling the site for housing... I heard that some years ago, before I moved here... they planned to do so but locals objected... with the recent changes in legislation they might be tempted to sell off the land again....especially as it's underused...

..thanks GWRS... will keep updated when I know more...

There are some very long and well established allotments in Bristol that are going to be "moved" because the council want to out a high speed bus link right through the middle of them image

all that hat work and effort, and they've effectively got to start again image

Will look into getting some bark chippings too, I could do with making some mud free paths. This rain has made my clay soil even stickier!

I am off work for a week, not going away, so hoping the weather will be fine and I can get more done down the "lottie"image  I have plans to make an apple tree arch and dig beds for my fruit bushes .image

Good luck with your plot Salino, its such an exciting time !!
